Skyformer challenges you to create an automated terraforming system using an army of drones. Craft bases, monitor weather, and survive storms as you take control of the planet’s environment—play solo or with up to four friends in co-op.

About this game

You are a robot sent to a planet to set up a system to make it habitable for your creators:

  • Design factories run by drones.

  • Create bases to craft and shelter in.

  • Upgrade your abilities and terraform to expand the area you can explore. You have both a health and charge meter that can get heavily upgraded over time.

  • Set up systems to monitor storms and deploy resources to protect buildings in their path.

  • Build out a skybase that houses a data center and launches rockets.

  • Discover and grow various plants and stabilize the climate to make the planet habitable. Watch as the visibility increases to reveal your creation and the planet transforms dramatically from a barren to lush environment.

Build factories automated entirely by drones!

Create systems to mine and process materials in automated pipelines. Configure drones to easily handle the logistics.

Skyformer’s automation is different from that of similar games. Resource deposits provide an infinite supply of resources, but as you get further into the game it challenges and rewards you for utilizing the production rates that you have and the entire map the best that you can. At the same time, it keeps calculations straightforward with simple ratios and round numbers. There are also quality of life features that make it easy to understand what's going on; you can come back to old saves and quickly pick up where you left off.

Terraform and track the weather!

The processed materials allow you to create and run a system that controls the climate, tracks the weather, and terraforms the planet. As you terraform, the planet becomes more capable of producing weather systems, some of which being quite destructive. This game has a dynamic weather system that interacts with the geography, producing microclimates in each region based on the current global climate.

Survive the process and achieve habitability!

Changing the climate of the planet can allow access to previously inhospitable regions, but can also do the opposite. Observing the weather and how the geography influences it is important to surviving the terraforming process. A blend of strategies can be used to survive storms, such as building up an expansive automated drone defense system, strategically positioning buildings, or simply maximizing the power of your tools and taking storms head-on. The energy produced by the storms can also be harnessed!

The goal of the game is to achieve a climate that maximizes biomass across each region, and stabilize the atmosphere to the point at which storms are no longer destructive.

Development

Skyformer is a debut game made with passion with both the game engine and all the art handmade by one developer over several years. Music and sound by Marty Meinerz.

    Patch Notes V1.2

Patch Notes (v1.2): Fix bug where harvesting a plant in co-op gets cancelled unexpectedly. Improved German translations. Fix issue where players can get stuck after terraforming operation in co-op. Add extra keypad keys to mappable inputs. Fix bug where storage labeling interface could show when using the supply drop. Prevent building base pieces on the same tile as a harvester (this was unintentionally allowed before, and had led to some bugs). Some upcoming changes: A preset casual game mode. Patch Notes V1.1

Fix issue where co-op saves could get desynced causing friends to not be able to connect to a host's server. If you ran into this issue, it would be a good idea to have the friend who is unable to connect delete their cached data for the world under AppData/Local/Skyformer (click Manage Saves in the load save menu to open the folder directly). Going forward this should not be an issue anymore! Fix bug where some co-op lobbies ended up being public. Improve the bounding volumes of a few base pieces for smoother player movement. Fix bug that caused the game not to load when the Miners Per Node world setting is greater than 2. If you run into any new bugs with co-op please DM me on Discord or the Steam Forums and I'll immediately address it! Thank you!

Skyformer 1.0 is out now with up to 4 player co-op!

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44335689/59d2319a89249aeb136a7ab760ce1eaab53bd224.png Hello Skyformers, today is the day! Skyformer 1.0 is out now with up to 4 player multiplayer co-op! The official soundtrack by Marty Meinerz is unfortunately still being reviewed by Steam but will be released as soon as the review completes. In order to make it a more accessible purchase for co-op with your friends, I've reduced the base price of the game to $14.99 USD along with a 35% launch discount! A few notes about co-op: Servers are player-hosted. Dedicated servers are not supported (unless there is demand for it). In-game voice chat isn't supported because lobbies are private and there's no need for proximity chat - it's recommended to use external software such as Discord. The game does have a text chat and map pinging system however. Don't forget to join the Discord community to share any feedback, issues, and your creations! If you run into any issue please contact me and I can fix it ASAP. I want to thank everyone again for all of the constructive feedback to bring Skyformer to where it is today. Will continue to tune the game as actionable feedback comes in. Skyformer is the biggest passion project of my life so rest assured that I will always care about it. Notable updates from Early Access to 1.0 Up to 4 player multiplayer co-op. Highly customizable game settings with presets such as creative, casual, and hardcore. An upgradeable jetpack (allowing you to build/manage things from above). Jump upgrades (e.g. double/triple jump). Planting system automation features (e.g. harvesters). Ability to place and remove plants manually anywhere in the world. Improved item recipe balance to accelerate progression, especially around iron and copper recipes. Accelerated early game progression and smoother tutorial. Improved world map design to make exploration smoother. Ability to drop and pickup items. Scrap Processor allowing you to turn excess items into scrap to exchange for upgrades and cos...
