About the Game

Stars of Icarus is the continuation of a decade-long legacy. Guns of Icarus Online pioneered the crew-based PvP airship experience back in 2012. Stars of Icarus is the next chapter, providing a modernized experience of the classic multiplayer PvP experience.

Form a crew of five to face off against each other. Choose your ship, join your squadron, customize your loadout, and become the Frontier’s most lethal crew. Will you master the stars or go out in a blaze of glory?

In every pre-game lobby, you’ll get to select from six ships and over 25 variations of fleet formations. Choose between solo fighters, two-seater corvettes or bring in the big guns with a three-manned frigate. Each arena adds its own twists and turns to your engagements with dynamic environments. Use your team’s experience to your advantage or fall victim to their unforgiving nature.

Within your ship, you’ll need to choose your specialty. Whether you take responsibility for navigating the cosmic fog, manning the cannons to wipe out enemy ships, or ensuring the shields and engines hold – when the ship goes down, the crew goes down with it. Customize your character loadouts to hold specialist tools to ensure you can get the job done.

Master a variety of engineering tools, arm your ship with different weapons and ammo types, and experiment with a range of ship skills and jump drives depending on your fleet composition. Access the full armory of weapons and equipment from the get-go, and discover your favorite loadout. No grinding. No pay-to-win.

Enjoy Stars of Icarus in your own way - jump into competitive modes or kick back for the evening to hang out with friends in custom lobbies and servers. Tell tales of your narrow escape from enemy fire, drifting through asteroid fields with half an engine and a broken antenna.

Be sure to check out the incredible spread of indie games that are also being featured on the event showcaseLaunch WindowFinally, we’re announcing that our launch window will be in Q1 2027. Stars of Icarus was originally slated for release this year and it’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly. We’re still keeping pace with our original schedule, but based on both our launch forecasts, and alpha and market feedback, we think we can turn a little extra time into both a better launch, and a better game! We’re taking that time to focus on two main goals: 1) We want to improve our new player experience, which means more tutorials, more first time guides and hints, and more opportunities to play the game with other new players. As ever, we don’t want to get in the way of playing with your friends, so a lot of this content will be optional. We originally scheduled optional tutorial content for after release. But new and returning player feedback helped us decide to prioritize a little more time to get your hands on a ship before jumping into combat. 2) We want to build up more momentum before launch. That means more playtests, more marketing opportunities, and more chances for people to hear about Stars of Icarus before we release. A big launch is important for keeping a healthy multiplayer game going. And we k...

More Community Events, Coming in Hot 🚀

Greetings Captains and Crew, Firstly, a big thank you to those of you who joined us for our Alpha Playtest and inaugural Tournament. We’ve been processing your feedback and suggestions and we can’t wait to share our newest updates with you. Once again it was a big task to go through all of your feedback! But we got through it in the end, and we’re hard at work to fix bugs, evaluate suggestions, and tighten up loose bolts. In our survey, we asked about experiences in the menus, during combat - as pilot and crew. Our focus was on our newest map, Omicron. The one with ice caves. What we learnedYou’re all looking forward to the real tutorials! Good news, you’ll be able to try out our first pass at the main tutorial in the next playtest. It won’t cover everything we plan to do for tutorials, but will cover some initial onboarding, so players can get their bearings. The party system is very important! We never intended to split up friends during casual play, and the unfinished party system is largely to blame. We’ll make sure you’re able to stay on the same team as your friends during the next playtestThe fog on some maps can be hard to maneuver through. We’re looking at thinning out those clouds (at least, on the inside) in future playtests. Our HUD layout and amount of information is in a good place for the most part. There are a few specific things, like direction of incoming fire, which we are looking at making more clear. The Loading Bar needs more to do - We’ve heard suggestions ranging from playable minigames, to pool, to extra tables. We want to make the cantina a fun place to spend time with your friends, so we’re taking all of your suggestions into consideration.Omicron is a great addition to our map pool, with unique hazards and layout. The First Alpha TournamentWith this being the first tournament we’ve hosted in Stars of Icarus, there were a few bumps along the way. In particular, there were a few UI bugs which caused confusion about which team was which! It was in...
