Embark on a challenging adventure as you command four teenage heroes in strategic turn-based combat. Your decisions shape the fate of civilization in this unique RPG from My Goody Unsafe Boar, released in 2025.

About this game

A Great Responsibility

In the distant future presented by Ternion, you take control of four members of the titular team of mercenaries working for the galactic organization known as the Defence and Tutelage of Abiogenesis, more commonly referred to as the DTA. Based on your decisions and relationships, the game has multiple endings.

Desert, the captain of Ternion and leader of the DTA, has been accidentally infected by a prototype symbiont designed to provide better performance in battle. The DTA discovered that the prototype's unstable nature results in the destruction and overwriting of brain cells, ultimately driving to madness those who come in direct contact with it.

Desert's state of mad delirium eventually drives him to seek the destruction of every inhabited planet in the existence. Upon discovering this plot, you, Fushiko, and Yuki, rebel against former leader, going to any and every length necessary to stop him and spare all civilizations of the Milky Way a terrible fate.

A Modern Mix of Vintage

Fight your enemies with a frenetic RPG combat system that combines the bustle of modern JRPGs with the tactical aspect of classic ones. You'll have all the time you need to carefully plan and execute your attacks with the turn-based combat system when not wandering the worlds. All the time, that is, if your enemy doesn't intervene in their own imminent demise.

A Weird Adventure

Get immersed in the course of events and explore relationships with your various teammates while keeping yourself focused on your true mission: saving the life in the universe.

In Ternion, you will:

  • Fly a spaceship through the Milky Way.

  • Solve logic puzzles & mini-games.

  • Plan an attack on the Ternion spaceship.

  • Dynamically alter the story flow through character relationships.

  • Learn about the civilizations you visit.

  • Have the possibility of unlocking an "open map" experience before the game's end.

Sole Development

Unfortunately, Ternion is a zero-budget passion project created by a single developer; if circumstances allow for it, the project will expand by gaining additional features and side missions, but right now that comes secondarily to the game's overall completion.

Aeroboard - Now you can own a Vehicle

As I stated in one of the previous posts, in the past few months I've worked on a part of the game that includes several mini-games. To implement these mini-games I had to write a lot of code, but it was quite fun!In one of these mini-games, you're asked to use a hoverboard (a hovering skateboard, like the one from Back to the Future), so I jumped at the opportunity to include it in normal gameplay. In the previous iteration of Ternion (you can find it here, it was nothing more than a tech demo, but it's free, so you can download it if you want!) there was something exactly like this, but it was implemented quite poorly... it just increased the character's speed. It was planned for this version as well, but I didn't know when or how to make it available to the player. And I genuinely even kind of forgot about it... Umh...So you can now use it anytime?Well, yes and no. A lot of people commented that the areas you can explore are too big, so I initially considered making it purchasable on the first planet, so it would make exploring a bit less tedious. But then I reconsidered it, for these reasons:Players who had already started the game could have "missed" the opportunity to buy one, so to overcome this problem I would have to add one to every planet in the game until at least Metra (the last planet you can explore right now).I prefer players to spend their credits on abilities and items in the early game. Adding it from the beginning would give players a strong temptation to "waste" money on something that isn't as useful as everything else. The only alternative would be making it free or giving it to players automatically from the beginning of the game, but I prefer having it as a purchasable item. I still remember how much I craved new vehicles in other games when I was younger, and the moment you finally obtained one was priceless. It was often quite useless, but I felt a lot of "power" in my hands! Sorry... I'll stop being romantic. You will be able to purchase one...

Updates on Version 0.9 - Metra

Hello dear players! Here's a little update on how things are going. What has been done in the latest months? The Early Access, after the latest update, currently stops right before reaching the city of Jeggar on planet Metra. Version 0.9 plans to add the whole chunk of story that takes place on this specific planet. There will be only one additional planet afterward, which will probably be released with version 0.10.What has been done after the Christmas holidays mainly involved working on building the city of Jeggar. Being a single developer, unfortunately, I had to focus my entire development time on that. Building every single 3D model and placing it in the scene to create the city took almost two months. After that, I proceeded to create all the cutscenes for this section before switching to the next one. I'll place a couple of screenshots at the end of the post. What's left to do before the release of the update? In the upcoming part of the game there are a few minigames that still need to be added, along with a couple more levels. Specifically, one of the two levels is an important part of the game for the development of the main character and, despite giving you no more than a few choices, will feature a high number of different combinations of cutscenes, depending on how you built the relationship with your team-mates. So you may skip a couple of parts or encounter a little surprise if you made some specific choices throughout the game. This will unfortunately require time and effort, but is something I really want to add. Then there will be the usual final boss fight. There won't be many fights overall, but there will be at least two boss fights. You will also be able to use the VR to train if you fled from too many fights and your characters have a low level. How much time will it take?Probably quite a lot of time still. I can't make any accurate prediction, but surely not before this summer. Most likely around the end of this year.Update on Voice Acting.Unfortu...

    Update 0.8.1

The game have been updated with a minor update.Fixed cardinal points on the map of Atanaki's caves*Fixed a bug where you could shoot at your own spaceship when moving at high speedFixed a bug where pressing the "pause" button on GameOver page made it impossible to select any option without using the mouseAdded a new dangerous enemy to Raithu VIIAdded missing lines to the Italian translation*Fixed cardinal points on the map of Atanaki's caves?Someone have made me notice that there's something wrong with the map of Atanaki:"West" is on the right instead of being on the left, and vice versa. I downloaded a CC0 image of a compass and placed it in the map, and didn't notice the mistake in first place. But actually there is no mistake at all.I just learned that some compasses (for example Brunton compasses) have East and West inverted, because usually when the needle is the only object moving in a compass you must always point your compass so that the needles points exactly to the north and then look at the other cardinal directions... unless East and West are inverted. If East and West are inverted then you can just point the compass in any direction and the needle will point towards the cardinal direction of the compass. In my case, though, it was just the wrong image to use. But it's funny because this mistake made me learn something new that I didn't know, and maybe you now learned it as well. You're welcome.MGUB

Update 0.8.0 (New Chunk of Story)

The major release has just been released. This update contains a new chunk of the main campaign. As mentioned in a previous post, it’s mostly composed of cutscenes, except for its final part. It also includes a variety of other changes to the whole game. Here’s the complete list of changes:New chunk of story, resuming from the previous interruption.5 new technique animations (to Lucy, Senso and Yuki).Vastly reduced the chance of enemies climbing onto party members during fights.Improvements to the Supplements system.Added turrets to the Ternion ship, which now fire at you during the minigame where you engage the Ternion just before landing on Kiza. The turrets are destructible.Added a pointer to the spaceship while in space, showing your prograde or retrograde motion (the icon changes depending on whether you’re moving forward or backward).Added some information about the destination planet during space travel.Added a light to the HDev when using it.Added a map as in-game prop into Atanaki's caves.Added some detail to the Ternion's 3D model.Fixed a bug where Candy was not giving you discounts after you saved her brother.Fixed a bug where enemies could spawn extremely close to you after loading a save game.Changes to the Supplements systemPreviously, it was impossible to know which parameter each food supplement boosted, unless you noticed which stat increased the most. Now, the system still won’t tell you which parameter it increases, until you use it:After that, you’ll see the corresponding box turn from green to orange on the parameter you just increased. These changes give much more clarity to food supplements, which were previously a bit too mysterious.Hopefully these changes are what the game needed. Some additional tweaks may be added in future minor updates before the next chunk of story is released with version 0.9.0.How many versions are planned on the Early Access? In the current roadmap, I planned to release versions 0.9, 0.10, and eventually 0.11 before the g...
