About this game
Shift Rows or Columns, not Symbols
In RC Match 3, you shift an entire row or column of symbols at a time. This makes for a slightly different puzzle than others in the genre, as the symbols are constantly shifting around the board.Increasing Difficulty
As your score increases, more symbols will be added to the mix, making it more likely you'll reach a Game Over state. Can you learn to use the shifting rows to your advantage and set up future moves? The game tracks your personal high score so you can see how far you've come. How high can you go?Customize Your Theme!

RC Match 3 Updated to Version 2!
Hello again and thank you for your patience! I was working on a very difficult to track rendering bug that made the screen blank on some machines. Once I got that working, an unfortunate mouse bug cropped up. I was finally able to track that down to an issue specific hardware set. On certain older, integrated Intel graphics chips, the mouse cursor location is not reported accurately to the game. Fortunately this seems to be a fairly esoteric bug, only affecting a limited number of older laptops. Even more fortunately, playing with the keyboard or controller are both viable options if you should run into this bug on your machine. For everyone else, the mouse should still work perfectly well. So now we are finally live with RCM3 Version 2! Version 2 changes: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43675368/e01da170d600620c266e4567fcc6c4e520a88ad5.gif * I think that the new version looks even better than the old one, and I was able to fix several issues that were more difficult to wrangle before, such as a slight misalignment of the rows when they shifted. * Due to several of the theme choices proving unnecessary and sometimes in pretty serious conflict, the many granular theme options were replaced with four preset theme packages. * Scoring tweaks to improve combo performance. * Individual match scores are now displayed briefly while adding to the overall score. Please note that due to the nature of recreating the game in an entirely new game engine, save data cannot carry over to the new version, so upon updating, previous high scores and saved games will be lost. Hopefully future changes will be easier to implement now that we've tracked down the major issues from the overhaul. Planned changes for the future: * A small help screen to briefly show new players how the game is played, as it is somewhat different than the most popular match-3 games. * Scoring quick-reference. * More themes and music. Thank you for your patience! Please let me know if you have any feedback. ~Carrie Half-Hear...Read full article on Community Announcements (carrie)Patch NotesOfficial
Oops!: Update to Version 2 Still Pending
Hi again, friends! Unfortunately there has been a slight delay in rolling out Version 2. As it turns out, one of our beta testers with an older machine is experiencing a problem with the new version where the game runs perfectly fine - as long as you don't mind the screen being completely black. We're having some difficulty identifying the source of this issue, and don't want to roll out a half-baked product to you. If you are interested in beta testing Version 2 now, you can opt in to the beta by right-clicking on the game's title in your list of games, choosing "Properties", and under "Betas" choosing the "Beta Participation" option "beta - new feature testing" from the dropdown menu. All additional testers are appreciated, as it helps us determine whether issues like this one are due to a problem with the game, or a hardware problem for an isolated tester. Please do send any feedback to support@halfheardgames.com. We'll get the update out as soon as possible! Thank you for your patience! ~Carrie Half-Heard Games, LLCRead full article on Community Announcements (carrie)Patch NotesOfficial
Coming Soon: RC Match 3 Update to Version 2!
Greetings, everyone! It's been a crazy year. I released RC Match 3 at the end of April, 2023, and after making a few fixes, we quickly arrived at Fall 2023. Unfortunately, I was using the Unity engine for game development, and in September 2023, Unity made some...questionable business decisions. Though they wound up walking back many of those decisions, it is not the first time this has happened, and I have decided to quit the Unity ecosystem entirely. Fortunately, the open-source Godot 4 game engine has proven to be far better for me than Unity ever was. I have spent the last several months learning Godot and rebuilding RCM3 from the ground up. The Version 2 update is coming along nicely, and should be available for download at the end of July! A preview of changes: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43675368/e01da170d600620c266e4567fcc6c4e520a88ad5.gif * I think that the new version looks even better than the old one, and I was able to fix several issues that were more difficult to wrangle before, such as a slight misalignment of the rows when they shifted. * I will be making some adjustments to the theme options for the game. With testing and feedback, several of the choices have proven to be unnecessary and sometimes in pretty serious conflict. I will likely be removing the individual options to change the background, board color, and symbols; I plan to replace these with preset theme combinations. * I also aim to include a small help screen to briefly show new players how the game is played, as it is somewhat different than the most popular match-3 games. * Unfortunately I do not believe that I will be able to carry over save data, so upon updating, previous high scores and saved games will be lost. Thanks for sticking with me, and I'll talk to you again at the end of July! ~Carrie Half-Heard Games, LLCRead full article on Community Announcements (carrie)Patch NotesOfficial
Version 1.01 update live on Beta branch!
Hi, this is Carrie from Half-Heard Games, LLC. I'd like to thank you all personally for purchasing RC Match 3! I hope you are enjoying the game, and that I can continue to improve the experience for you moving forward. Version 1.01 is live on the Beta branch now! Assuming there are not any major problems, I will be pushing it onto the stable/default branch on Friday, 05 May 2023. If you'd like to participate in the Beta, right-click on RC Match 3 in your Steam Library, go to Properties, then go to Betas and select the "beta" new feature testing option from the dropdown menu, and the Beta testing version will download. If you have any feedback on the Beta or just on the game in general, please email support@halfheardgames.com with "RC Match 3 Feedback" in the subject line. Please note whether you are using the Beta or the default version. RC Match 3 v1.01 Patch Notes: - Changed "cancel" action behavior in-game to always deselect the symbol completely (previously, canceling while a row or column is selected would only deselect the row or column, but the symbol would remain selected) - Improved mouse selection to fix problems selecting symbols on the edge of the board and fix rows/columns occasionally shifting when not desired - Fixed a bug that sometimes made menus unusable after exiting the audio menu - Fixed an issue that caused flickering in the audio volume sliders when dragging with a mouse - Fixed an issue that caused audio preferences to sometimes not save correctly Known issues for future updates: - Flat Symbols need improved visibility on some backdrops - Selections need improved visibility on some backdrops - A brief help section would be desirable for new usersRead full article on Community Announcements (carrie)
