Dummy Customization! Tutorial progress! (And fixes too!) Devblog #5

Ahoy there my good gentlemen o' fortune! We've made it to our fifth Devblog entry! We owe it all to you guys. The option to customize your dummies is finally live! This has been one of the most requested features we've had for quite a while now; if you had been paying attention, you'll know that we had an option in our main menu for that but there wasn't anything you could do inside. Now, thanks to the efforts of our code magician, Jilmer, we have fully customizable body parts for your dummies. The options currently live in the game are limited though, but we will be adding them in the next few days. You will be able to get new parts for your dummies in an in-game shop we will include in one of our next minor updates. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/970a519c0b421f30ab80a3f4dcd1a6e00967b0e8.png On to the next point! The tutorial is almost fully finished! You can play the current version the first time you open the game which has 1 map at the moment, we're almost ready with the development of the 2nd map. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/ebd399595eabe513133ef635a6366d84efc4d185.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/e3fe5880d4d7f47515ab8492869377e609c3d4f5.png Besides this, we've also added a lot of bug fixes and optimization features that were due for a long time now! Profile ui hide the frames on the background Friends UI said it is offline but has greeen icon indicator Updated the shop items data in Steam Inventory System Updated the core IAP code That's it for now, we'll see you soon for the next update, yarr!

Tutorial! (At last!) and lots'a'fixes - Dummy Devblog #4

Welcome to the Dummy Devblog #4! (New name for our devblog, how is it?) Our first devblog since the Early Access. We're finally adding a tutorial level! A lot of people have asked us about this and now it's almost here! Among a lot of small and not-so-small fixes that came with the Early Access release. Here's a little preview of the Tutorial level! An awesome job mainly done by our team members Oscar and Jilmer. It still needs a bit more work but you can expect to see it very soon. Beside this, we've been also working on a lot (A LOT) of fixes for different things in the game that have popped off since the last couple of weeks. We won't go into detail for each one because this would make this devblog an e-book, but to list some of them: The game starts before all players have loaded Ships suddenly become invisible while still having visible cannons Mob's projectiles not damaging players Chest keys not properly dropping Fixing the broadcast message Spikes in network lag Kill counter not properly updating When 2 players collect an item at the same time, they both get the item But now all of those have been fixed, so no issue here. And last, but not least, we now have wind effects for the speed boost in-game! You can use the speed boost using the Shift key while moving your ship, it will give you a temporary boost which you can use strategically to move around the map and outmaneuver enemy ships. That's it for now! Make sure to hop in when you've got some time to try out these new fixes, and we will release a small update when the Tutorial is officially released. Have a good one, mates!

Devblog #3 - Plunder ALL the chests!

This was quite an eventful period between the last devblog and this one. One of the main points is, we have a new logo! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/781ac4cb10ee17d4bcaa5e3079cc78d605b948c5.jpg We're in the process of updating the placement of the new logo everywhere so you still might see our old one here and there. On to the stuff inside the game: There are chests now, so you'll be able to do the ol' gentlemen o' fortune art of plundering. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/e279f0f07b81c7ee5e6451605af49310a16402cd.png The map will now spawn chest keys that you'll be able to use to go to the enemy base and steal one of their chests, which you'll have to return to your own base to collect. Each base has 5 chests, and plundering a chest lets you steal 10 points from the other team. But beware, to collect a chest you need to clear any enemies inside of your own base, so use that to your advantage. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/74d54d823687818d2f7e95a74109d549215c016c.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/a36f338da0ba5ee47ec5b561a7368f34d4d3c349.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/f98b92d21c56622e0fc8a5357be262c6f7dd28a4.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/9bf42a3947706869e86e3e777f481c5877c86100.jpg On to more news! We've reduced the time for each game to 5 minutes temporarily as we're expecting to have a few play nights and events in the next month, and 5-min games are easier for players to experience Chromatica, instead of commiting to the previous 20-min games. But don't worry! It's a temporary change while we release the Early Access version of the game. Which will be probably sooner than you expect!

Devblog #2 - Fixes, Friends and More!

Here's our 2nd Devblog for Dummy Pirates! We recently had our first Playtest Night where we people to try out the game, and that went pretty well! We will be hosting a new one pretty soon, but meanwhile, you can apply to playtest the game, you just have to go to our Steam Page and apply, that's it. If you have any suggestions or find any bug, please send us an email to hello@dummypirates.com. On to the update! We've continued to work on the visuals of the game, and there's some substancial progress in that regard! Here, take a look: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/bc4ed68c51c5f228887c4995f605b724e853d49b.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/84172849002a66b37eaa9ecf16bd21593c628cd9.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/255f691ec3b8e39c5949b09602bfb9f32bca7485.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/13481811f1753a8d26d46a8812f66ff1d8f2f67b.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/df71e26419acc401db85181561a6f25b204815db.jpg Chromatica is looking more alive than ever! The bots have also been getting some love, and we have been fine tuning them to be even more competitive, but with all of this, naturally, there are some bugs that need to be... dealt with. One of the main ones was a lagging issue due to the bot's configuration, that we're still working on fixing completely but the performance on lower-end computers might not be the best right now. Among the other ones, there were some other issues with the bots decision making when buying items and attacking, some visibility issues with skills and with ripple effect. Those have been sent to the deep sea with a one-way ticket, on point with the Pirate Code. We have also added a Friends List! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/990a9451b6eb8a45b89d2e5a85778f11fcdf5c50.png It's a first version so expect some changes to it, but it's there now. You'll be able to check which of your friends are online to play with them. Lastly, only with a brief mention, we will be doing some additional visual updates (It's one of our main things, how could we not?) and polishing ou...

    Closed Beta! Devblog #1

Welcome to our first Devblog! In the past few days, we've been working on tweaking some major details of the current version of the game, and we're proud to announce the upcoming closed beta version of Dummy Pirates! In the upcoming days, we'll make an announcement for our first playtest night where we will send a few beta keys to some of our community members and people that have wishlisted the game so they can try it out and also join our Discord server! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/7a6a96e82a9381864fdfa784c1c55528f8080b77.png We have functional bots now! Our Lead Programmer, Jilmer, has been working on the settings of the AI for a while now and we now have a nice happy group of Dummy Murderbots. As of right now they are able to hold their own against human players, but we're still far off from the point we're satisfied with them. We want you to feel like a Dummy Bot can provide as much challenge as a human player, so we'll continue working on them for the time being. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/d0b12c324a4d58d1591edbba43ca2dff23e0d399.jpg On the visual side of stuff, we have rocks! A lot of them! And they look pretty. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43392250/4af0ffb77e02295b37214c9f32d5b4d6330212f1.jpg We've been polishing the looks of the rock formations found in throught the map and we're very satisfied with how great they are looking now. The next step for us on this area is gonna be finishin up some details on the color department (water, we're looking at you), updating some of our existing art and working on some new concept art. That's all for today's devblog! We're planning on uploading a new one every couple of weeks, so stay tuned to the next one, and also for our upcoming playtest night! We're very excited to have a chance to play with you all very soon and sink you to the bottom of Chromatica. See ya, chums!
