About this game
RUBATO, an experimental, 2D physics-based take on the collect-a-thon genre!

The year is 12,012. Multiquadrillionaire monopoly "GSSAI CO." has been in power of the universe for centuries after a world-ending bioweapon was unleashed onto the masses. And now? The solar system has been destroyed by unknown celestial forces. A weapons development program run by the Earth subsidiary of "GSSAI CO." is fast progressing. And the world's denizens are disappearing.
That is until one man screws up a game of pool.
HERO OF THE STARS AND THE SKY
Use your tongue to lick enemies and objects as you make your way through open metroidvania-like areas, whilst collecting "Planet Bits" to help fix the solar system!
WELCOME TO RUBATO WORLD
5 compact, densely packed areas ranging from a huge sprawling bakery to the world's most poorly planned city. Uncover secrets and shortcuts in every corner of the world.
IF I COULD ONLY LOVE
A strange, funny plot with a deep focus on humour and character writing. It gets silly. It gets serious. Really concerningly serious. Uh. Is the guy who made this game okay..?
BUT FIRST, LOVE YOURSELF
To save the world, you must save yourself first. Find yourself again.
RUBATO contains flashing lights which may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy.

Regarding RUBATO V1.3
The original plan was to release this update around now. The truth is the second half of this update has ballooned in scope into a full revamp. Minor cutscene brush ups won't suffice any more. RUBATO v1.3 will completely replace the final third of the game. This will be tighter and shorter. It will be completely redone. The only things that will be kept is the bosses and some of the level design. Additionally, the main character controller and gameplay is being brushed up. Every single area and subarea is also being improved to some degree too. The "director's cut" update is now a revamp of the full game, from start to finish. The release date and overview of this update will be announced once production of the update is complete. Additionally, it will have a much closer dual release with console. If you've been holding off from playing the game, then you should just play it now. It might give you perspective onto why these things are being changed. Why?I'm not happy with the game. I feel like the intent didn't come through and I want to communicate that better. I feel the original released version of the game had too much positive feedback during testing and it obscured a lot of the flaws of the game in the final rush to release the game. I also have had a lot of time to reflect since release and it's given me good perspective on what's gone right and wrongThese changes come from self-introspection and the belief that the intent of the game has been muddied quite a bit. This isn't so much perfectionism, as much as I want to set things right. The final result will still have its own flaws (as does any game), but hopefully the point will get through betterSo, is this final form of RUBATO an uncompromised "true vision" of the game? I'm not sure.In the production of games (and creative work in general), ideas change naturally. The final result is created from the weaving and shifting of ideas and concepts. As players, it's easy to perceive the final result of a creative ...Read full article on Community Announcements (dconn)Patch NotesOfficial

RUBATO 1.2 (Director's Cut - Part 1)
This update has been tested pretty thoroughly, but things always slip through. Please report any bugs here!:https://steamcommunity.com/app/2244030/discussions/0/6536492774143598733/Director's Cut Part 1?The changes to the latter half of the game have become much more ambitious than originally planned. So I'll be releasing an additional update that will include these changes, plus some level design changes and kinda superfluous bonus stuff. This update is prettttyyy huge still, so I hope this is enough to tide you over for now! The second part of the update is well under way and I'm hoping to get it out by August. The second half of the game still has edits and cuts, but they're much more subdued than what's being worked on behind the scenes. Sorry for the wait and thank you for your patience! ChangelogArea 2's cutscenes have mostly been completely redone.Area 3 has a completely new intro The entire script of the game has updated.
