Engine Upgrade, Rebuilt Interface, and a Long List of Fixes
Midnight Alert has been rebuilt from the inside out. New engine, a completely new interface, and the machines and radios you find in the world are now things you actually operate instead of text boxes. If the game has been sitting on your wishlist, this is the version to play. A new face for the whole game Every screen has been rebuilt: the main menu, the pause menu, the settings, the loading screens, the in-game HUD and the dialogue. New key art for the menu and for each location. Bigger, cleaner typography. Nothing was patched — all of it was redone. HUD — vitals, ammo, objectives, pickups and area titles, redesigned to stay out of your waySettings — graphics, audio, gameplay and full key rebinding, for keyboard and controllerPrompts show your keys — rebind an action and every tip and prompt updates to match The computers are real computers The captain's notebook and the lab machines used to open a dialogue box. Now they boot into a small in-world operating system: a desktop with folders you click, windows you stack and close, a taskbar, a start menu. And the things you do on them are programs. Copying the evidence archive is a utility you launch, that reports its progress while it runs, and that you come back to once it is finished. The lab console holds an assignment waiting to be accepted. There is a lot more to read on those machines now, for anyone who likes digging through other people's files. RadiosRadio contact happens on an actual radio: channel and frequency readout, signal strength, and transmissions that come through as they are spoken instead of dumping on screen at once. Under the hood The game runs on the current Unity 6 engine, with its third-party components brought up to date alongside it. Achievements work. The Steam integration was not unlocking or storing anything. That layer has been rebuilt, and achievements now unlock as you earn them.Saves sync with Steam Cloud, so your progress follows you between machines.Progression fixed.
