Dive into the soothing world of Sleeping: Counting Sheep, an indie simulation that lets you and your audience explore serene pastures together. Perfect for casual entertainment and relaxation.

About this game

Sleeping: Counting Sheep is a relaxing and playful experience set on a peaceful, isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Players control a floating camera that watches over a serene pasture, where sheep continuously spawn and leap over a fence in the center. It’s the perfect game for winding down or for streamers looking to entertain their audience while they’re away from the keyboard.

The game offers Twitch integration, allowing viewers to interact directly by spawning sheep through chat events, subscriptions, follows, or bit donations. You can customize the percentage chance of sheep spawning from each event, adding a fun and interactive element to your stream. Each sheep spawned from Twitch events comes with the viewer's name, and if the "Baa's" setting is enabled, viewers can communicate as their sheep, sending either shortened messages or simple “Baa!” sounds.

If no keyboard or mouse input is detected for a while, Sleeping: Counting Sheep seamlessly transitions into a cinematic mode, slowly panning around the pasture and the sheep. It’s a calming, hands-off experience designed for streamers who want to relax or entertain their audience while they’re away.

This game was developed as a dedicated space for streamers who want to relax on Twitch, offering an alternative to the "I'm Only Sleeping" category that’s often misused. While this game provides a great way for streamers to rest while entertaining their viewers, anyone can use the Sleeping: Counting Sheep category on Twitch, even without owning the game.

Key Features:

  • Twitch Integration: Allow viewers to spawn sheep via chat events, subs, follows, and bit donations, with customizable chances for each event.

  • Cinematic Mode: Automatically activates when the player is idle, showing a relaxing view of the sheep and pasture.

  • Interactive Chat: Enable viewers to communicate as their sheep, with options for real messages or playful "Baa!" phrases.

  • Customizable Sheep Spawning: Fine-tune when and how sheep are spawned, creating either a relaxing or engaging experience.

  • Streamer-Friendly: Designed for streamers who want a fun, passive way to entertain their audience while they rest or take a break.

Planned Features(Subject to change):

  • Sheep Model Improvements: Sheep will get an actual animated model.

  • Sheep Cosmetics: Sheep will spawn with random decorators like hats/masks/capes etc.
    Methods for unlocking these(If any) are still being looked into.

Sleeping: Counting Sheep is a unique blend of relaxation, interaction, and entertainment that brings your audience closer while offering a peaceful escape.

    Update on the way!

    So this is just a short announcement to say that in between working on my systems backends and stuff for web dev I have been working on optimizing and setting up for the next updates. Currently my plans are as follows in order of priority.Redo the meadow so that rather than being an island it is just in a large landscape so I don't have to deal with water reflections for performance and I can utilize some new tools to make things look a bit nicer while still running better.Make my own twitch api wrapper plugin so I can use it in this and all future games without having to wait months for official or unofficial sdk's to exist and be updated.Make an actual sheep model so it looks less like an.... adult toy. This will also allow me to add animations and the foundation for a future cosmetics update to allow viewers to customize their sheep. And then a lot of QOL stuffAfter all those I do want to add more stuff for the streamers to actually do to progress and unlock stuff for them and their viewers but that is after I improve the game foundations.The attached image is a Very early version of the meadow remake I am working on. I am unsure when the update will be out but it is on the top of my work priorities right now.
