About the Game
You know, when you explain an idea, the idea fundamentally changes.
UNBEATABLE is an anime-juiced rhythm adventure where you (figuratively) destroy on stage while you (literally) destroy on stage. During rhythm gameplay, you only need two buttons: a button for up and a button for down. Simple to understand! The complicated part is doing it. Try not to get destroyed yourself.
Half the game is walking around and taking things at your own pace. The other half is trying to keep up with ours.
The pink-haired girl is Beat, and she is you, and you have a lot of things to worry about. The cops are everywhere, and they are mad at you for what feels like no good reason. Though it doesn't help your case that you keep making friends with people that the cops are mad at for slightly better reasons. But what do I know?
Talk to people, help them out (or don't, I'm not your mom!), play huge concerts, and punch cops. And then run away from the cops you punched. Also there are monsters or something. Not sure what's going on there?!?!
All of this culminates in massive setpieces where everything is at stake. The music got you here. It'll get you through it.
*if this was 1999 this section would be called "talk the talk and rock the rock"
UNBEATABLE's full arcade mode is an entire game by itself with its own progression system and a full online component. There's modifiers, tons of songs (with more to come!) and a whole challenge board to beat, with things to do that range from as simple as "beat a song on easy mode" to, one may presume, something as complicated as "solve an ancient riddle while skateboarding." That's not a real example.
**if this was 1999 this section would be called "party like it's now"
FEATURES:
Story Mode: 6-8 hours. Arcade Mode: UNLIMITED
Characters that hate you!
Maybe also some that don't!
The arcade mode has a cute little profile you can customize and unlock stuff for and I think that's pretty neat
Graphics! We'd describe them but I mean it's right there, you can see it
A whole entire double album worth of original songs
plus acoustic versions of those songs
oh and also remixes, too
You can unlock all the songs by playing the narrative OR just by playing the arcade game exclusively! Great for those who truly hate stories
Something (in this game) will make you feel something (in real life)!
It's anime
If you think about it, QTEs are basically just rhythm games with no music
Please, whatever you do, the title is either all caps or no caps. Be kind to us.
And the idea changes you in return.

THE STORY IS TRUE! PATCH 2.3 w/ MOON CHILD and In Falsus' "Cryogenic" is LIVE!
We're back with a new FREE update for the game featuring the previously announced MOON CHILD collaboration and a special free song addition to celebrate the launch of upcoming PC rhythm game In Falsus. PATCH 2.3 IS LIVE ON PC!To start, we're launching with an unprecedented four new songs in this update: MOON CHILD (UNBEATABLE'S LOVEADELIC RPG ADVENTURE REMIX) is a new in-house production remixing the 1997 original theme, and the classic Amiga and Windows versions are also playable too. Huge thanks to Metin Seven and Ramon Braumuller for allowing us to do this! If you like our brand new rendition of the titular theme, it's available to listen on our Bandcamp! See here:https://dcellgames.bandcamp.com/album/moon-childLastly, "Cryogenic" by Camellia ft. Petra Gurin, the marquee track for lowiro's new rhythm game, In Falsus, has been added as as playable track! In Falsus is a narrative-heavy rhythm game from the studio behind Arcaea, which we previously featured music from earlier in the year. We're honored to work with them again and celebrate their next release - which we think undeniably rules. If you enjoyed playing the song in UNBEATABLE, we highly recommend checking out In Falsus when it releases on September 9th, wishlistable here:FULL PATCH NOTESGENERAL CHANGESSave System has been fully reworked to prevent save data loss and corruption. The Jamie Paige Content Companion is available now!
UNBEATABLE DLC BUY NOWOur first major DLC for UNBEATABLE, The Jamie Paige Content Companion, is available NOW! Jump into 12+ songs, new characters, new stages, and no secrets, all based on the music of our close collaborator (and now permanent fixture of our work chats), Jamie Paige.BUT THAT'S NOT ALL:UNBEATABLE PATCH 2.2* IS LIVEand it's bringing you the release of PATCH V2.2.0, adding both full Japanese and Simplified Chinese localization to the game, a free song in ARCADE MODE, and the addition of subtitles in select cutscenes in the game! First, on the Japanese / Chinese localization: that's available now*! The full game is playable in both of those languages, and if you're a new player, you'll be offered the chance to choose your language before jumping in. If any issues come up, please report them directly in the Steam forums, we'll be making sure any issues or errors can be caught.Because the songs are still in English, and several key sequences of the game have voices / singing that would otherwise lessen the impact for international audiences, we've made sure our subtitle system was finally complete for set cutscenes in the game! And lastly, we have added one additional track to the ARCADE MODE today, free of charge, regardless if you buy our new DLC or not! NOT LOSING, one of the brawl tracks, has been adapted as a playable song. Check it out!* For Console players, it'll be a few days; right now, the game is on Version 2.1, which includes the Jamie Paige DLC + Not Losing, but not the Japanese / Chinese localization and Subtitles. Those are still in the process of being approved for submission, and you'll be receiving the V2.2 patches ASAP.THE JAMIE PAIGE CONTENT COMPANION Album is available now on Bandcamp! All the brand new originals + remixes we've done for the JAMIE PAIGE CONTENT COMPANION are now available at dcellgames.bandcamp.com, in the form of "The Jamie Paige Content Companion's Official Content Companion". Update About UNBEATABLE on Switch 2
Hey! I’m sorry because this is a bad news announcement. I hate writing these and you hate reading them but I promise we’ll get through this together. A bit under a month ago, we announced that the Jamie Paige Content Companion was going to arrive on July 27th. That’s still happening! However, we said that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game would come out simultaneously with that, and that isn’t happening. The Switch 2 version of the game is being delayed for a short bit. We don’t have a release date quite yet. Keep in mind, by the way, that this really only affects the digital launch; physical should still be coming alongside the other console versions of the game! I want to be very transparent about why this delay is happening: this time it’s not anything game breaking…it’s just not running as well as we want it to be. It’s chugging in some scenes and it detracts from the experience. And, especially given how much work we’ve done over the last few months to smash bugs and improve performance on both PC and console branches, we really don’t want to put a bad foot forward here. Both for you and us, frankly! I’m sure you get that. This isn’t the outcome anyone wanted, obviously, but I want to be clear that D-CELL ourselves (as well as Playstack!) pushed for this delay internally after reviewing how the port’s performance was coming along. We’ll be working closely to try to get the experience to a solid high frame rate. We’ll let you know when the new release date is as soon as we know. It shouldn’t be that long, but given cert timelines it’s hard to give an estimate. I know this is disappointing! This sucks, actually! But it would suck way more (again, both for you and us) if it came out and didn’t run well, especially all these months after launch. I know you’ve all looked forward to the Switch 2 launch. You’ll just be looking forward for a little longer. -RJ and D-CELLRead full article on Community Announcements (rj)AnnouncementsOfficial
