General Update #1
Hello! This will be the first of many, many announcement posts appearing over the course of development. For now, I just wanted to update you readers on the current situation of this project. The first quarter of 2023 - Roadmap: - Optimising the game to improve performance. Aiming for above 60fps on any graphics settings on average/common Desktops. This won't include max graphics settings though. - Adding an introductory sequence to the game, will be regarded as a tutorial. This will use simple animation at first but will be improved once I gain access to motion capture animation. - Properly add the first town you visit during the tutorial. - Add light scattering or fog for anything far away from the player's view. - Atmospheric sounds. Battle music and calm music. - Multiplayer features. Such as visiting a friend's "server" for now. - Autumn biome. - Directional damage indicator. - Improvements and additions to the UI, such as a compass and map icons. Known Issues: - Framerate is way too low. Probably due to intense rendering features such as water planar reflections. - Exiting swimming animation may cause the player to be unable to walk anywhere but straight. - Underwater lighting looks messy when the sun is setting. - Stamina bar can sometimes not disappear even when full. - Godrays aka light shafts stopped working. Possibly due to using different environment models. - Shadows get cut off at LOD distance. Looks outright awful. - The pullback animation when using the bow needs to be improved to look more realistic. - The idle position of the right hand when holding the bow is also misaligned. - Footstep sounds can go out of sync. - Graphics settings are still janky. The audio setting doesn't even work. - Cloud quality and other settings do not get synced with the initial graphics settings. Lastly, A new look for the kyotabi.dev Website! That's all for now, see you on the next one! -CRead full article on Community Announcements (tsukiaou)
