About this game
Create music, worlds, and live experiences together in VR and desktop
PatchWorld is a multiplayer audiovisual playground for building interactive worlds, instruments, reactive visuals, playful systems, and live experiences without coding.
Easy to start, deep enough to grow. Beginners can explore, play, and remix right away, while advanced builders can create complex worlds, audiovisual systems, interactive devices, and ambitious performances, especially with the power of PCVR and desktop.
You don’t need to be a musician to start. Build a world, generate or import your assets, design a strange machine, create a game, or make something reactive, then discover how sound, rhythm, and music can become part of what you create.
Explore community-made worlds, jam rooms, interactive stories, music studios, live events, and playful experiences, remix everything you find or build something entirely your own.
For curious minds of all kinds : Whether you are a curious beginner, VR creator, musician, producer, visual artist, tinkerer, performer, streamer, or educator, PatchWorld gives you a new way to create and express yourself inside shared virtual worlds.
Hang out, build, jam, and explore
Play and create with others in real time. Explore worlds, jam rooms, interactive experiences, and ready-made music studios for electronic music, reggae, techno, drum and bass, and more.
Try instruments, inventions, games, devices, and worlds made by the community. Attend live events, workshops, jams, and performances. Share your creations and remix what others have built.
Build interactive worlds and playful systems
Use physics, logic, interaction, and gameplay blocks to design interactive experiences, strange machines, art installations, motion-based systems, and even games.
PatchWorld started with music, but creators use it to build much more than music alone.
Create reactive audiovisual systems
Turn sound, gesture, interaction, and gameplay into real-time visuals, lights, motion, and spatial effects.
Play with ready-made visual devices to create reactive stages, glitch art, generative visuals, and audiovisual performances, or build your own VJ tools and TouchDesigner-like setups from scratch directly in 3D space.
Customize your avatar, movement, and identity
Import custom VRM avatars, create expressive costumes, design reactive outfits, and shape how you appear, move, and express yourself inside PatchWorld’s shared creative worlds.
Build instruments, studios, and audio based systems with your hands
Use PatchWorld’s modular block system to create musical instruments, synths, samplers, drum machines, sequencers, effects, custom controllers
Inspired by modular synthesis, Pure Data, Max/MSP, TouchDesigner, and node-based creative tools, PatchWorld brings the art of patching out of the flat screen and into 3D space.
Connect your setup - Go hybrid with mixed reality
Go further with MIDI, OSC, Ableton Link, spatial audio tools, recording workflows, external controllers, DAWs, and desktop / PCVR setups. From jamming in VR to performing on stage, PatchWorld can become part of your live creative setup.
PatchWorld is powered by our bespoke audio engine, developed over many years for high-quality real-time and spatial audio. It supports responsive instruments, synthesis, sampling, effects, procedural sound systems, spatial mixing, and immersive performance tools designed for serious sound.

Bring your own assets, or generate them in-world
Import your own sounds, images, videos, and 3D objects through the PatchWorld web portal, or generate new assets directly inside PatchWorld with AI-powered tools.
Now on Steam Early Access for PCVR and desktop
The Steam version brings PatchWorld to a more powerful PC-based setup, with support for both PCVR and desktop. PCVR is the main immersive creation experience for patching, building, performing, and interacting with each other naturally in 3D space.
Desktop is currently in beta but is already very useful for exploring worlds, filming, streaming and joining multiplayer sessions!

Community Spotlight: Leo, PatchWorld’s Skeleton Inventor
Meet Leonardo Björk, one of those PatchWorld creators who, despite showing up as a skeleton, makes the whole platform feel alive. If you have watched our YouTube channel or spent time in PatchWorld on standalone VR, you may have already seen him: the quiet skeleton avatar building something strange, funny, playful, and interactive somewhere in the corner.Leo builds toys, vehicles, musical machines, games, rideable trains, remote-controlled UFOs, catapults, interactive bombs, hose guns, spear guns, punching gloves, lottery machines, spyglasses, eye-makers, and many other devices that feel somewhere between a garage invention, an amusement park ride, and a cabinet of interactive curiosities. Watch a remote controlled UFO in Mixed RealityHis creations are made to be operated. You can touch them, trigger them, drive them, open them, copy them, and take them apart. That makes sense when you know a bit about Leonardo’s background. A Builder Long Before VRLong before VR, he was already a builder. As a kid, he made clubhouses, tree houses, go-karts, custom bikes, and anything else that could become a project. Later, he worked in mechanics and construction, often designing his own tools when a job needed something specific. For three years, he also worked as a rides mechanic at an amusement park.Once you know that, Leo’s PatchWorld creations make perfect sense. They have the logic of rides and physical machines. They are playful, but they are also functional. They are funny, but they are carefully built.Welcome to Plink Town One of his most iconic worlds is Plink Town, a western-inspired playground built around shooting games, playful systems, and a rideable train. It began with small experiments, like bottle shooting, Dizzy Ducks, Ping Ball, Hatchet Throw, and other western-style challenges. Then Leo found a town model with train tracks and naturally wondered if he could build an old steam engine that actually rode on them.So he did.His work is also unusually generous. Leo doc...Read full article on Community Announcements (steam-account)AnnouncementsOfficial
PatchWorld is Coming to Steam Early Access
PatchWorld is coming to Steam Early Access, bringing our multiplayer music-making universe to PC VR and desktop. This is an important new chapter for us. Over the past years, we have been building PatchWorld on standalone VR headsets with a small but incredibly creative community of patchers. What started as a single-player VR music app has grown into a living creative ecosystem: a place where people make music together, build instruments, create audiovisual worlds, perform live, teach, learn, and remix each other’s creations. Getting this to work on standalone VR headsets was a huge challenge, because music is one of the most demanding forms of real-time collaboration. Timing, latency, sound quality, gesture, presence, and synchronization all have to feel right. If any of these elements is off, there is no flow — and no magic. So yes, what we have managed to build on standalone headsets still feels a little bit like a miracle to us. Now, with Steam, PatchWorld has more room to grow. PC VR gives creators more power for richer worlds, more ambitious setups, and deeper audiovisual performances. Desktop opens the door to more people: people who want to join a session, record, stream, guide a workshop, collaborate with VR players, or explore PatchWorld without always being inside a headset. Before launch, the best way to support us is to wishlist and follow PatchWorld on Steam. What is PatchWorld? PatchWorld is a live audiovisual creative playground where music is not only something you compose on a screen. It is something you enter, touch, grab, connect, perform, and transform with others in real time. The simplest way to describe PatchWorld is: a place to make music together in VR and on PC. You can start with ready-made jam worlds and instruments designed to feel musical immediately, even without formal training. Many setups are synchronized or quantized, so beginners can quickly experience the joy of making music together. But PatchWorld also goes much deeper. Its b...Read full article on Community Announcements (steam-account)
