About this game

You're curled up in front of the fire reading a folk tale on a cold winter's night. Something about it seems so familiar. Have you read this before?

  • Explore a cosy and mysterious fantasy universe inspired by fairy tales. The old kind of fairy tales, strange and wild, before the edges were sanded off. Warm and comforting, but with parts you don't quite understand, and you don't know if you want to understand.

  • Befriend strange and wonderful folks. Navigate 4 main routes through the game as you grow closer to the main characters.

  • Align yourself with G-d, Death, or the Devil. Choose your godparent and your destiny.

  • Uncover secrets and mysteries. Something strange haunts this book. What was that shape? At the corner of your vision?

  • Multiple endings. So, so many endings. I cannot be stopped.

Update - fixed name and continue issues

Hi everyone! This update fixes some recent reported issues: Soft Locks. Some players reported a soft lock where they couldn't click "Continue" or "Begin". This could occur when the game exited unexpectedly midway through. I've revised the way the Continue button works, so this should no longer occur. Changing Name. Some players reported that changing your name and pronouns in the menu screen after starting the game wasn't working. I've revised this and it should work now. If anyone still encounters bugs or issues, please let me know and I'll get them fixed up! And thanks again to everyone for playing :)

    Easier Full Restart Update

Hi everyone, I'm happy to announce I've just pushed live an update to make it a little easier to wipe your save files and restart from the True Beginning of the game. The below text will explain how to do it. If you haven't played the game yet, don't worry about reading this! It will contain vague spoilers. How to reset your saves: Once you have reached a final ending sequence, press the number 0 or the letter O on your keyboard. This will open up a dialogue that will give you the option to wipe your saves and restart over again from the very beginning. You should know you're in a final ending when you cannot progress any further. Let me briefly explain why the game works this way. It was always my intention to make it a bit difficult to fully restart the game. The feeling of permanent loss is important to the core themes of the game, and having some friction here is meant to encourage you to accept the consequences of your decisions. The ending you recieved is your ending, and the choices you made are your choices. Making it a bit difficult to restart is meant to encourage you to sit with your decisions for a bit before jumping in to a new game. Buuuut after getting lots of player feedback on this one, I do think it went a bit far. Resetting ended up requiring a lot of messing around with cloud saves, and some players were unable to get it to work at all. So, I've decided to use this method which still has some friction to it - you have to find out and look up this solution to find what to do - but doesn't require any technical know-how. Thanks again to everyone who's played the game over the last almost-a-year. I couldn't be more thankful for the wonderful reviews and comments the game has recieved. Cheers, Jack McNamee.
