Embark on an epic journey as you plunder cities and ships in Caribbean Legend, an open-world RPG from BlackMark Studio set in the swashbuckling era of Caribbean piracy.

About this game

Inspired by Sea Dogs series and Sid Meier's Pirates!

Welcome to the Caribbean in 1654 AD, a place teeming with opportunities and mysteries. Assume the role of Charles de Maure, a young French noble who embarked on a journey to the New World to assist his brother. What initially appeared to be a simple family matter quickly evolves into a lifelong adventure.

Immerse yourself in the tale of a noble brat who rises to become the most influential figure in the Caribbean. Riches, titles, power, and romance – the ultimate booty awaits, and it's up to you to seize it all.

  • Embark on a 200-hour-long journey.

  • Undertake hundreds of quests.

  • Freeplay, rush through the story, or combine both - you're the Captain, and your ship will sail where you command.

  • Experience a historical narrative with a touch of mystique.

  • Explore romantic interests and companions.

  • Choose from various career options, from general-governor to pirate baron.

The Caribbean Sea – a realm of dozens of islands and cities, a grand archipelago shrouded in mystery and secrets. From the summits of Indian pyramids to the ocean depths, unique rewards, quests, and curiosities await. This open world is your sandbox, you are free to explore it and shape your legend as you see fit. Your decisions determine where to go, what to do, and who to take with you. Subdue the New World or it will destroy you!

  • Discover dozens of islands and settlements.

  • Build your very own colony.

  • Explore caves, pyramids, jungles, Indian tribes, and lost cities.

  • Visit taverns, brothels, shipyards, churches, forts, and many other points of interest.

  • Engage in treasure hunting and gambling.

  • Experience dynamic weather and the serene turquoise sea.

Owning a warship is a privilege, a symbol of status and luxury. You are among the very few who can afford such grandeur. Begin your journey with a simple sloop and work your way up to commanding a ship of the line or even a fleet of these formidable vessels, ready to plunder cities at your whim. No one will stand in your way. Tired from leading massive armadas and the responsibility? Take command of a fast Frigate or Corvette and just free roam the Caribbean. In moments of tranquility at sea, relish the stunning views, embrace the sense of exploration, or navigate in the heart of a storm.

  • Command dozens of ships representing the glory of the Age of Sail.

  • Customize, paint, upgrade, and repair your vessel.

  • Engage in unforgiving yet enjoyable naval combat.

  • Experience intense boarding action, from the upper deck to the captain's cabin.

  • Collect unique vessels to rule the seas.

  • Manage booty distribution, morale, and the threat of mutinies.

  • Assemble a formidable team of officers.

Captains are most vulnerable when they set foot on land. Surviving naval combat can be challenging, but at least you won't die alone – your crew will stand with you till the very end. Land battles are different: dishonest, ruthless and risky for you and those who you hold dear. Bring your companions with you, poison your weapons, study the terrain, craft deadly items, and confront thugs, soldiers, pirates, and rivals head-on.

  • Tailor your character's build – become a heavy swordsman, a nimble rogue, a master sharpshooter, or a silver-tongued diplomat.

  • Equip yourself and your companions with a wide array of swords, axes, rapiers, armor, muskets, and pistols.

  • Craft amulets, ammo, potions, and always be prepared for battle.

  • Seek out challenges – the more you fight, the stronger both you and your character become.

  • Command military operations from raiding to sieges.

    Course to 2.0 — Chapter 3/5

Ahoy! Joruba here. The closed alpha for Patch 2.0 is going live August 23rd!Participants will be notified in their Alpha Discord channel. This is an incredibly important milestone for me and for the team. We have been working toward it ever since the release of 1.0. As one of our new teammember recently put it: “The progress is awesome. It’s a strange feeling, watching the game grow into something I never thought possible. I’m really enjoying seeing the specialists do their thing. It honestly feels like magic.” I’m very happy that more people will soon get to see it for themselves. Kirill, break a leg. Set the studding sails! Course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here, and a very emphatic welcome to you all. This is our third development diary covering the gameplay side of Patch 2.0. When the fifth diary goes live, the open beta for Patch 2.0 begins. Last time, we covered the foundations of the new economy: The hidden penalty on stolen goods is gone. The Commerce skill only improves when you buy low and sell high. Piracy does not level it. Colonies will only pay a fair price for large shipments from trusted trading partners. To become one, you will need to “level up” a colony by trading there regularly, improving your relations with its nation, and developing the right skills. You can also build that standing by sailing merchant ships, opening deposits and taking out loans at local banks, keeping ships in local berths, and building businesses. Businesses are a new gameplay system that lets you build a trading empire that works for you and leaves a mark on the game world. And that was only the first half of the new economy. Today, we are covering the second. But first, a short FAQ. The previous diary raised a lot of questions. Let’s answer the most common ones. FAQ We play this game for piracy. Will the new economy kill off selling loot? Quite the opposite. We removed the hidden penalty on stolen goods, so piracy will become more profitable. Pirates will simply ha...

    Course to 2.0 — Chapter 2/5

Ahoy! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44649887/a845c4fbf96ed1486bca148d3047d31c7ab9702f.png Set the studding sails! Course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here, and a very emphatic welcome to you all. This is our second development diary covering the gameplay side of Patch 2.0. Today, we begin exploring one of its key changes: the new in-game economy. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44649887/008d70a4b91c59e9d6c45b649952bc34008907e2.png Unequal Earning Potential Broadly speaking, there are only three main ways to make money in the game: piracy, trade, and quests. There is also treasure hunting, but I consider that a type of quest: find someone selling a map, buy it, sail to the right place, locate the chest, and get into a fight. There is a clear divide between these activities, and each has problems of its own. Piracy means risking your ship and spending resources to capture valuable cargo. The spoils receive a hidden “stolen goods” rating, which experienced players can erase through a warehouse exploit. For newcomers, piracy remains difficult, risky, and not especially profitable. Trade, on the other hand, consists of shuttle runs along well-known routes with a narrow selection of profitable goods. Again and again. Once you memorize a route such as “coffee: Saint-Pierre to Willemstad,” an incredibly lucrative playstyle becomes little more than watching the Global Map. Quests occupy the middle ground. They are less profitable than piracy, let alone trade, but also far less repetitive. Players value quests—especially generated ones—primarily as a source of experience rather than money. The result is an economy where making money simply is not very interesting. There are few meaningful decisions to make, yet the captain’s coffers still need regular replenishment because of… The Financial Roller Coaster and the Value of Pesos As the game grew, both income and expenses grew with it. The economy became larger rather than deeper: a captain’s savings came to be measured in millions of pesos, whil...

    1.9 Hotfix #1

Introduction Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts after Update 1.9 launched. We read all of your feedback—positive and critical alike—and it genuinely shapes our continued work on the game. Our goal has always been to deepen and diversify the gameplay, not to turn Caribbean Legend into an exhausting grind or make it inaccessible to players who simply want to enjoy a thrilling pirate adventure. This update is another step toward refining the new systems and improving the game’s overall balance. Thank you for helping us make Caribbean Legend better! Changes The player’s Health and Energy bars in the combat interface now update smoothly and use improved display logic. Poison, remaining healing charges, and critical hits against the player and officers are now displayed in the same way as they are for enemies. Added tooltips for input modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, and RMB). The new input modifiers now work on the contraband and colony capture screens, when searching barrels at sea, and when discarding items from the inventory. The text-based maneuverability rating was poorly received, so we replaced it with a clearer version. We also added more tiers and specified the range for each one. Ship stat bars are now larger and easier to read. Items with no stats no longer display an empty tooltip panel. The spare cannon information now clearly states that only the main caliber is counted. Added a notification for unpaid crew wages. The tavern line “They say you’re a miser” should no longer come as a surprise. The flagship’s name is now shown in the ship list outside combat. The Holy Mercy no longer damages relations with Spain if it is attacked by someone other than the player in the local waters. If the player leaves without searching the Holy Mercy’s cabin, Almeida’s journal and the crumpled note will still be added to the Documents section. The main menu and pause menu now display a notification when mods are enabled. If you return after a long break and have forgotte...

    1.9 Shipshape Update

Ahoy! What’s on deck:The game is now 75% off—our biggest discount ever, and it will not go any lower;Immediately after this sale, we will significantly raise the game’s price;Major Update 1.9 is out now;No new game required; We recommend disabling mods;Ship, crew, and cannon management have all been overhauled;New events have been added to towns and jungles.Upcoming Price IncreaseVersion 2.0 has taken the entire team a year of hard work. Once it arrives, Caribbean Legend will finally leave the 2000s behind and enter the 2010s. We believe that raising the price of a game offering 200 hours of content with greatly improved visuals is only fair. Here are both previously released teasers for Update 2.0, in case you missed them:Caribbean Legend is currently on 120,000 wishlists, and it would be unfair to raise the price quietly without warning—or without giving everyone one last chance to get an exceptional deal. Therefore:Until August 6, the game will be available at a record-breaking 75% discountOn August 7, the price of Caribbean Legend will increase by 10–25%, depending on the regionDLC prices will remain unchangedThis means that the next two weeks are your last chance to purchase the game at its historically lowest price. That’s enough sales talk for today. Now—to what really matters. ːcharles_happyːUpdate 1.9This is a landmark update: the penultimate major update for the game, and the last one built on the legacy DirectX engine.Nothing less than the biggest and most advanced Sea Dogs experience ever created on Storm Engine.Update 1.9 adds new events to towns and jungles, solves the problem of constant stagger-locking in combat, and—most importantly—makes ship, crew, and cannon management far more engaging, intuitive, and considerably less tedious. No new game is required. We recommend disabling mods. As always, you can roll back to any previous version at any time. And one more thing. From time to time, some of the series’ most devoted veterans accuse us of casualizing the...
