Embark on a pixel-art journey as Hidalgo Bladewing, battling through retro-style platforming and transforming weapons. Soar and fight your way to save your friends in Atomic Owl's chaotic adventure.

About this game

Play as Hidalgo, the last free Bladewing, on a challenging, retro-inspired quest to save your corrupted friends and take down the twisted Crow Sorcerer, Omega Wing.

The world of Judanest is unraveling, poisoned by Meza, and broken by betrayal. You awaken after two years, bound to an eternal tree and armed with a demonic, talking blade that may be your only ally.

Features:

  • Retro-Inspired Platforming and Precision Gameplay!

  • Defeat hordes of deadly Tengu in fast-paced, skill-driven combat.

  • Die, retry, grow stronger, and overcome impossible odds.

  • Voice-acted cast and charming performances.

  • Absorb Meza souls to unlock powerful upgrades.

  • Wield the Yutameta scythe and strike from afar.

  • Choose your weapon – Hammer, Blade, or Whip? Your choice.

  • Fully animated opening cutscene sets the tone.

  • Transform into the Void Crow and demolish the Tengu.

  • Explore a vibrant world full of color and personality.

  • Take flight and glide through expansive sections.

  • Collect elemental powers – Flame, Lightning, and Poison!

  • A hybrid soundtrack mixing synthwave and JRPG influences!

  • Hand-drawn pixel art with expressive animation.

  • Classic approach to video game storytelling and gameplay, and an honest attempt at trying to answer the question of "what if roguelites existed in 1991 for the Sega Dreamcast?"

  • Intense, precise, and rewarding platforming. Combine a variety of dashes, jumps, and sprints to reach your goal.

  • Channel the power of the Mezameta Blade to seize corrupted souls from Tengu in the heat of combat.

  • Smash Tengu with a devastating hammer, unleash massive damage with a brutal greatsword.

  • Strike from a distance with a 'Vania-inspired whip, or hurl a deadly sickle for devastating ranged attacks.

With a streamlined, yet minimal loop and persistent progression, every death brings you closer to victory. Fall in battle, and the phoenix at the Twilight Perch will revive you as a stronger Bladewing, and more prepared for what’s next.

One level might have you scouring ruins for keys, another navigating vast buildings while dodging patrolling enemies, and others will launch you into the open skies of Judanest for zen-like traversal.

Every zone brings something new, and every challenge pulls you deeper into the heart of Judanest.

Take up arms against the evil Crow sorcerer who brainwashed your troupe.

You must save them all.

What did you think of Atomic Owl?

Hey everyone, As we come to a close on the development of Atomic Owl (for real this time!) and enter the console market, we wanted to ask everyone to help with a few things. As pretty much every gamer on the internet knows, a game lives or dies by its Steam reviews. Sometimes, though, this is tricky for small games like Atomic Owl, especially considering that our early codes that were sent out were for Kickstarter backers, which sadly do not contribute to a game's review score. For one, did you know that Atomic Owl sells about 300 to 400 copies a month? While we're happy with this number, we would love to see more of a higher percentage of you all tell us what you thought of the game! Steam does NOT email customers of a game to remind them to review, so it's up to the developer and posts like these to remind you all to go into the game page in your Steam library and give it a thumbs up, or a thumbs down...!That all being said, we've pretty much wrapped up on post-game support for Atomic Owl. Ever since we launched last July, we've been addressing every single concern that players had, and as of the last update, we hit the end of that list. From voice acting improvements, a no-roguelike mode, to balance patches, hundreds of bug fixes, widescreen support, and more. I hope you all enjoy the game my team and I made. Soar on and fly, Bladewings. Eldar

Atomic Owl is playable on Steam Deck!

If you missed the announcement from a little while ago, Atomic Owl is fully set up and ready to play on the Steam Deck! You can now play the ultimate love letter to Sega Genesis sword guy platformers on the go. Now, I know what you're asking...why is it not verified? Well, GABE NEWELL thought our text was a little too small. yeah. coward. And the way our text is set up in Unity, it would be a horrific nightmare to adjust. Just trust me. I was able to play the game all of the way through on the Steam Deck, and honestly, the text isn't nearly as small as text on like...a Yu-Gi-Oh card, or something. That text is for ANTS!I mean, seriously, who is expected to read that?Anyway, go play Atomic Owl!
