Meet The Team: Florian & Mathieu - The Creation of Galeao Racetrack
It's time to talk about Endurance Motorsport Series! For this 'Meet the Team' series, we have decided to talk to our level designer and environmental artist who worked on the creation of Galeao! Let's take a deep dive behind the scenes on this creation! In case you missed it, you can also find gameplay and the trailer of the upcoming racetrack below! Can you introduce yourself to the Endurance Motorsport Series community?M: I'm Mathieu Desmarchelier, working as a Level Designer on Endurance Motorsport Series since its beginning. Being a Level Designer on EMS mainly includes creating the new fictional tracks, but also implementing real-life circuits. We set up all the gameplay coded by the programmers to make sure the tracks are playable in-game.F: My name is Florian Charpentier, and I joined the Art team on EMS three years ago. I started as an Environment Artist, then specialized in Level Art. My work mainly consists of terrain sculpting, integrating vegetation and biomes, and doing a lot of testing to see what looks best. What are the different steps to create a fictional race track from scratch? M: The first task was to find a real location for the track, by doing a lot of research. For EMS, we wanted to use countries that have an affinity for motor racing, and Brazil was an obvious choice. It's a country with strong ties to motorsport, and they have a well known F1 track. Then, we choose the exact location in the country where we will build our circuit. We looked at Google Maps a lot and settled on a small island with an airport in front of Rio de Janeiro: Galeao. We reimagined the shape of the island so that we could integrate our track into it. We took a lot of references from existing circuits to achieve a realistic result. We also played other games, watched endurance races and asked professional drivers to test our tracks to create something that looked realistic. We then moved on to a “blocking” phase, where we laid out the initial plans for roads, buildings, a...Read full article on Community Announcements (Nacon)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dev Letter #3: Mechanic Management & Lamborghini Reveal
Taking care of your mechanics and avoiding technical issues is a key part of race strategy in Endurance Motorsport Series. In this new Dev Letter, we dive deeper into this feature and also introduce the Lamborghini cars coming to the game, along with a legendary circuit: Monza.Taking care of the mechanical issuesRace pace alone won’t guarantee victory in Endurance Motorsport Series. Driving style plays a major role in your strategy, just like weather management. Rain can make races more challenging, increasing the risk of collisions and car damage.Collisions directly impact your car’s condition. They can cause suspension or bodywork damage, affecting overall performance. But collisions aren’t the only threat, different car parts will naturally wear out over time and may eventually lead to mechanical failures. As an engineer, you’ll have access to a dedicated screen showing the condition of each car component and any potential issues. It’s up to you to decide whether to call the car into the pits immediately to fix the problem, or wait until the next scheduled stop while accepting reduced performance during the current stint.Lamborghini reveal: Hypercar & GT3 categoriesLamborghini is joining Porsche and BMW in Endurance Motorsport Series as a manufacturer represented in both the Hypercar and GT3 categories.Founded in 1963, Lamborghini only entered motorsport in 2009 with the Super Trofeo series. In less than 20 years, the Italian brand has already built an impressive record in world-class GT racing. Lamborghini entered top-level GT competition in 2015 with the Huracán GT3. In its very first race, the car claimed victory at the 2015 3 Hours of Monza. Over the following decade, the Huracán went on to win multiple championships and some of the most prestigious GT races worldwide, including the 24 Hours of Spa and DTM.In 2022, Lamborghini announced its Hypercar project with the SC63. The car made its first appearance in the 2024 Qatar 1812 km race of the FIA World Enduran...Read full article on Community Announcements (Nacon)AnnouncementsOfficial
Meet The Team: Jérémie Lolieux - Physics Designer
Nacon Racing's News From the Pits brought a lot of new details, but as promised, you can find more questions answered about the physics of the game!Physics is an important part of any racing game, and it's why we want to be upfront about what experience Endurance Motorsport Series will be offering players upon release. To give you more details on that, here's Jérémie, the physics designer who worked on the physics of the game! Can you introduce yourself to the Endurance Motorsport Series community? My name is Jérémie Lolieux, and I work as a physics designer on Endurance Motorsport Series, focusing on vehicle handling, tire behaviour, and how the car interacts with the track and weather conditions. I come from both a game development and sim‑racing background, so my goal is to bridge authentic endurance racing sensations with an experience that remains enjoyable and readable for a wide range of players. What group of players are the physics aimed for in the Endurance Motorsport Series? The physics are aimed at players looking for a sim‑lite experience: something clearly more realistic and demanding than an arcade racer, but not as punishing and demanding as a pure hardcore simulator. Wheel users who enjoy cockpit view and endurance strategy will find enough depth, while gamepad players with driving aids enabled can fully enjoy the driving experience of endurance racing. What effects are simulated in Endurance Motorsport Series physics? The physics simulate key elements of real endurance racing such as tire grip evolution, fuel load impact on handling, suspension behaviour, potential damages or mechanical issues, and aerodynamic downforce at different speeds. Weather changes and track conditions also affect how much grip is available and how stable the car feels over a stint. How much does the physics vary when accounting for tire compounds, weather, and tire wear?Different tire compounds offer distinct trade‑offs between peak grip, durability, and warm‑up time, so choosi...Read full article on Community Announcements (Nacon)AnnouncementsOfficial
Dev Letter #2: Weather Impact Strategy & Porsche Reveal
Weather conditions play a critical role in race strategy, especially in Endurance Motorsport Series, where you can run several cars from different classes in a single race. Porsche joins the lineup with the Porsche 963 in the Hypercar class and the Porsche 911 GT3 R in the GT3 category. And that's not all: the legendary Spa-Francorchamps with its unpredictable weather and its mythic layout is part of the Endurance Motorsport Series game!Weather Radar: Anticipation Is EverythingAs a race engineer, your job is to develop the smartest possible strategy to outpace the competition. In addition to tools like Driving Style Management, monitoring the weather radar is absolutely essential for success. Reading the weather correctly could make or break your race. A dedicated weather radar is available from the pit wall, offering crucial data such as nearby cloud formations (color-coded by rain intensity), wind speed, and wind direction. With this information in hand, you can decide exactly when to call your drivers in the pits for tire changes.Beyond slicks, which are only effective on a dry track, the game includes Intermediate and Wet tires, designed for rainy conditions. Intermediate tires are ideal for light rain, while Wet tires shine in heavy rain and more treacherous conditions. Track humidity constantly shifts with the weather and it can vary from corner to corner, especially on long circuits like Spa-Francorchamps. From the driver’s perspective, the radar isn't visible. That information is exclusive to the race engineer from the pit wall. Making the right tire calls at just the right moment is essential to climbing the leaderboard.Porsche Reveal: Hypercar & GT3 CategoriesPorsche’s history is deeply tied to endurance racing. With 19 wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 at the 12 Hours of Sebring, and 20 at the Daytona 24 Hours, Porsche stands as the most successful manufacturer in endurance racing history. Both the Porsche 963 and Porsche 911 GT3 R are part of the Endur...Read full article on Community Announcements (Nacon)AnnouncementsOfficial
