Long Steel Update 1.2
Hey everyone! It's been longer than I originally anticipated, but I'm happy to announce that the 1.2 update for Long Steel is officially out now! This update brings with it 2 new areas with lots of new content including new achievements, songs and boss battles!Return to the Instant Launch FormatIn order to prevent high CPU usage by the engine, the game was making use of a separate launcher. Thanks to a discovery by the Solarus Team, they've found a way for the instant launch .exe file to no longer take up an intense amount of CPU! Thanks to this, players will be able to launch Long Steel without having to navigate a secondary launcher and will also experience less CPU related crashes.General-Various bug fixes throughout the game-New graveyard cutscene following the third boss-Changes to cutscene dialogs/events where deemed appropriate-Rolling without walking will cause the hero to pivot backwards-New small animation occurs where teleporting between warp points-World map has been added to the Palelands-Birds are more abundant in the world and will usually have bird nests nearby that drop Eggs-Bombs and Exploding Rocks blow up upon impact with lava and water-Cleaner UI-Made the sword slightly longer Slime KingdomIt's the Slime Princeling's first birthday! And to celebrate, the Slime Queen is throwing a very special birthday party! ... But oh no! Thieves have invaded the party and stole some of the ingredients! Help the chefs get back these ingredients and help save the Princeling's birthday! To access the Slime Kingdom, make your way to the Town Square and talk to Duke Slimington located next to the Cake Salesman. Goblin CapitalUpon gaining access to the postgame, head outside your house and you'll find a letter in your mailbox. (Yes, I added a mailbox outside the house specifically for this) Farmer Lin made himself a makeshift boat and is heading to Shipwreck Isle to meet up with his family in the Goblin Capital and he's invited you to come along! The Goblin Capital ha...Read full article on Community Announcements (Dispayr)AnnouncementsOfficial
Long Steel's 1 Year Anniversary!
Hey everyone, Today is the first anniversary of Long Steel! In the time since the game has been released I have grown a lot as a developer and learned a great deal thanks to player feedback. Many changes and improvements have been made to make Long Steel a better experience and I plan on adding more content and updates in the near future. I am planning on having a new 1.2 update released in the next couple of months which I am very excited to share with you all! Until then, thank you everyone who has contributed to Long Steel's journey and I will be sharing new content with you all soon. Long Steel Update 1.1.5
Happy Halloween! It's been a while since the last update, this one I'm labeling 1.1.5 since although it is still a major update that adds and/or changes many things about the game, it's not substantial enough for me to consider 1.2. With that, here's a brief overview of all the new changes being made to Long Steel. Game Launcher For the foreseeable future, the Long Steel .exe file will instead be using the Solarus Launcher. While this makes the initial boot-up a bit clunky, it has a much lower toll on the CPU and memory, which should prevent crashes on older systems. For the first time playing, you will need to navigate in the Launcher to File > Add Quest > The Long Steel .solarus file This should be temporary up until the newest update for the Solarus engine releases! Cooking Update and Menus There are now 6 more recipes that can be cooked up at the Bonfire! They stack the same way other recipes do so be sure to stock up on them before heading into any dungeons! With this, I have added a new achievement that unlocks when you have cooked at least one of every recipe. I have also made some graphical changes to the pause menu screens. Some are completely different while some changes are much more subtle. Hopefully this will make everything look cleaner and more cohesive. Graphical Changes The graphics in many locations have been changed to look better and more clean. I have also cleaned up a decent amount of graphical clutter, mostly in the overworld sections of the game. There are lots of little touch ups and more will likely be made where the need arises. I have also made updates to a few of the hero animations for various activities and spells. This includes brand new cutscenes that take place after defeating each of the Archwitches! Balancing Many of the enemies throughout the game have had their health and damage values altered to provide better balancing through the game experience. Health, Magic and Stamina for the hero have also been rebalanced. Miscellaneous ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Dispayr)Patch NotesOfficial
Long Steel Update 1.1
Hey everyone! It's been a while since the last update, but I've been working hard on making some improvements to the game. This comes in the form of various QoL changes, new systems and graphics as well as bug fixes. I'll continue to work hard to improve things as additional feedback is received, but I'm excited for everything coming out with this update. Bug Fixes -Softlock following the gangsters toward the beach has been fixed -Globules will now stack to 30 when you receive the bag upgrade. -Bridges working as intended. -Can no longer teleport to the Pale Lands while in the future. -The miniboss room in the Frozen Castle will no longer lock you in after beating the boss. -The digging minigame guy is now less adamant that you play his game. -The torch minigame at the beach now functions correctly. -Goo is now craftable. -Falling should now make the hero invincible on respawn for a short time. -Royal Undercroft softlock has been fixed. -All books in the library are readable. -Chest in Frozen Castle no longer respawns keys. - Various changes have been made to certain functions in the gameplay loop that should prevent crashes. I haven't had an issue with game crashes in my save files so I'm hoping that these changes will help. I would also recommend making sure that all video/graphics drivers are up to date to ensure no issues due to hardware/software. -Snowman and Bone Skeleton side quests now won't take all your items if you pass the necessary amount. QoL -Added an NPC at the Bonfire that will sell reagents for cooking. -Crafting items have been re-balanced where deemed necessary. -Enemies have been re-balanced where deemed necessary. -The Forge of Power has been re-balanced/made less annoying in certain areas. -Bank money input speed is now sped up while holding down the key. -Archwitch Luxa's initial laser takes more time before it activates. -Warlock's clap attack has a slight delay. -Gaia's jar drop has a slight delay. -Electric balls while Archwitch Venta is d...Read full article on Community Announcements (Dispayr)AnnouncementsOfficial
Game Changes With More on the Way!
Hey everyone! At the time of writing this, I've just pushed a new build to the public with mostly bug fixes, but some new additions as well. Bug fix wise, issues involving the Lair of 100 Trials as well as the entrance bridge to the Sky Temple should now be functioning as intended. As far as new additions... Demo A Demo version of Long Steel has launched! This will take you up to and including the first boss of the first dungeon! Item Wheel For new players, how to use the Item Wheel will be introduced through a new Voidling in the tutorial that instructs you on the controls. For existing players, I'll go through the new addition here. To assign items to the Item Wheel, simply select an assignable item from the inventory or crafting inventory for consumables, and keep the Item Key held down for a second or two and the Wheel will pop up. From there, press the Item Key in any of the sections of the Wheel to assign the Item to that section. The Wheel can be closed using the Pause Key. To pull it up in game, instead hold down the Action Key and the Wheel will pop up where you can assign the item to your Item Keys. Dashing The Dash Boots in the Lair of 100 Trials (which no one would have gotten anyway due to the fixed bug so this is sort of redundant) has been changed. Dashing now occurs simply by running for a few seconds. You can run however you want and pressing the Sword Key while dashing will cause you to thrust forward with your sword super fast! Lastly, I have a little lore document that I was working on called the Xoro'Dun. This is a compendium of information regarding the universe and history of the world in Long Steel. If you're interested in lore check it out. it's by no means required reading but I hope you enjoy! https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSvTjLNs2i99u0s7JWpb18R2mMacrqcdjQ1viULj_TmrUM1pthV_T88zhFONZniny0XNb3BhLZ6fv1u/pub In the works, I have an update to the Fishing System which I'm really excited about so keep an eye out for that! Until nex...Read full article on Community Announcements (Dispayr)
