Hello Adventurers! We're arriving a bit later with the follow-up news than promised, but we're still on track! At the moment we're doing QA work, localization, and console testing all in parallel, to bring you the next Update and DLC, along with all fixes and improvements, across every version we manage. We expect to give you the release date within the next four weeks. Until then, we want to take you on a deeper dive into the systems. So you don't miss the most important news from us regarding other systems and more, you can do the following:Sign Up for our NewsletterFollow us as Developer on SteamJoin our Discord Community Free Update - Kill/Time ModeOne of the main motivators for the Boglands Kill Mode was feedback about possibly shorter runs. We've seen how short runs can get in that mode if the builds crush the enemy streams. We decided that making Kill Mode available for the late/end game would bring more action and challenge for long-term players. The Kill Mode toggle will be available in the Shrine of Torment. To unlock it, you need to finish a quest on each map, usually the first damage quest, to show that you can deal enough damage for Kill Mode not to drag on forever. In general, the required kill count has been balanced to reflect the requirements of the later kill quests. We've added UI feedback and information to make it clearer when the lord will spawn. As already with the Boglands, we'll be introducing new artifacts with the Archives that let you increase the monster spawn rate. The two artifacts that can do this are the "Ritual Dagger" and the "Ferryman Purse." Free Update - Fragile/AfflictionWe decided to rework the effects that increase damage dealt to enemies, making them simpler and more effective to use. The first major change is that, from now on, Fragile and Affliction will affect ALL damage: so Fragile will now also increase Effect Damage, and Affliction will also affect direct Damage. This poses the question: what is the difference between Frag...Read full article on Community Announcements (June the Fool)Patch NotesOfficial
HoT Preview - Free Update & The Archives II
Greetings Adventurers,We are closing in on the next big update and a new DLC. We’ve already introduced some new concepts in earlier posts. But in case you missed it we’re giving you a list of general contents further below. In the near future not only will the Steam Store Page for the DLC go up, but we also have other news to share for that the HoT News Page may not be the first/best place to write. To not miss the most important news from us regarding other systems and such you can do following:Sign Up for our NewsletterFollow us as Developer on SteamJoin our Discord Community We intend to have a preview of the free update part at some point of August or September with the update date TBA. A few weeks after it we’ll release the Update & the DLC!Summary - Free Update:Kill/Time mode switch. You will be able to play older maps in the same game mode as the Bogland map. The Bogland maps will also get a timer mode. An exception from this is the Vault. This is a new feature in the Shrine of Torment.Statistics and Records will be available in the compendium. Most stats have been already tracked since the 1.0 release, but we never managed up until now to bring the statistics page. Additionally to that we also started to save records of maps like highest torment score, most kills and quickest finish time. Weapons and characters gain their damage dealt records being entered. The options enable you to turn on tracking and comparison to your current records during a run as an overlay. The Challenge Shrine gets added with a weekly seed. You will play one of the five base maps with random artifacts enabled. It can be either kill or time mode. The torment level itself won’t be too high, but during the challenge mode additional spawns will be activated. We are also trying to have a weekly ranking (possibly Steam only) which will display your weekly rank.Fragile and Affliction will become permanent debuffs that can endlessly stack with higher effect, both affecting damage and effect dam...Read full article on Community Announcements (June the Fool)Patch NotesOfficial

Hot Preview - Free Update & The Archives I
Hello Adventurers! As promised in our last update, we're back with a closer look at what we've been working on. We have both a free update and a new paid DLC in the works — here's where things stand.Note: Everything shown here is work in progress. Details may change before release.Free UpdateWe're putting together a substantial free update that focuses on giving you more ways to play and more reasons to come back. Here's what's shaping up:Kill or Timer — Your ChoiceThis one we're really excited about. When entering the Shrine of Torment, you'll now be able to choose your completion condition for each map: survive a set timer, or reach a kill threshold. Every stage (except the Vault and Training Grounds) will support both modes.Prefer a more aggressive, fast-paced approach? Switch to Kill Count and race to mow down the required number of enemies. Like the classic pressure of the ticking clock? Stick with Time Limit. Your choice, your pace — and your records are tracked separately for each mode.Statistics & RecordsWe're adding personal per-map records along with general run statistics. See your high scores, fastest times, and most kills at a glance — broken down by map and game mode. A great way to track your own improvement and settle the question of "was that my best run?"Challenge ShrineA new shrine will appear in your encampment offering curated challenges with a fixed seed. Each challenge presents a specific scenario: a set world, a selection of artifacts, increased monster waves, and limited shard upgrades. You pick your character and loadout, then work out a strategy to master the challenge. Your best result is tracked right at the shrine so you can always try to beat your own record. We'll share more details on exactly how the Challenge Shrine works as we get closer to release.Fragile & Affliction ReworkWe've given both the Fragile and Affliction systems a significant overhaul:Universal damage amplification — Both effects now increase all damage enemies receive,...Read full article on Community Announcements (June the Fool)Patch NotesOfficial
HoT Update - 2026-03-10
Hello Adventurers! We have a fresh update going live today covering some quality-of-life improvements, a handful of bug fixes, and a couple of crash resolutions that have been on our radar. Read on for the full breakdown — and make sure to stick around for a peek at what's coming next!Shard Upgrades: Bulk ActionsManaging shards in the Vault just got a lot faster. You can now hold Shift to upgrade or refund in steps of 10, Alt for steps of 100, and Shift+Alt for steps of 1000. Gamepad players can use the left and right triggers to do the same.Bug Fixes & ImprovementsBard: Fixed an issue where the Mark of the Bard ability was incorrectly mapping to generic abilities at the start of a run instead of the Bard's own abilities (KillerRiff, KickBass, etc.).Music Player: Fixed a potential crash that could occur when switching music tracks during a level-up screen.Lord of Regret: Fixed the mining attack incorrectly using a hardcoded bomb count instead of the intended value. His wave and delta attacks will also now properly abort if he dies mid-attack.Player Input: Fixed an issue where holding left-click and right-click simultaneously could cause auto-attack to get stuck. Input is also now correctly disabled on death.Undergrowth Vine: Fixed vines not despawning at the correct time when certain Force modifiers were applied after the vine was created.Bog Slow Area: Fixed stale puddle references carrying over between runs, which could cause the slow effect to trigger incorrectly.Vault: Added a safeguard to prevent a crash that occurred when an item stored in the Well no longer exists in the current item pool.Agony Quest FixesChambers of Dissonance: The "Survive the Agony" quest will now only track progress and complete when Agony mode is actually active. It was previously possible to fulfil the quest conditions outside of Agony entirely.Alchemist & Crone Agony Quests: These quests now correctly require Agony mode to be active before tracking any progress.Crash FixesLightning Stri...Read full article on Community Announcements (June the Fool)
