Navigate treacherous steampunk mazes as you craft and command Drones to overcome challenges. Learn from each defeat in Full Gear, an indie RPG where strategic thinking is key to triumphing over mechanical foes.
About this game
Welcome to Full Gear! This is a steampunk-style traditional roguelike (turn-based, permadeath, absolutely no progression), where you'll learn that information is key: learn new things, die from an unknown attack, repeat. Use goggles, guns and gadgets to get a gain on the gears, and find... whatever you're looking for down there. You keep forgetting your goal, don't you Devi? Eyes on the prize!
You can also play Full Gear as a modern roguelike, slowly unlocking item sets, boosts, and Toolboxes. If you don't like starting with all the chaotic and complex items, be sure to select Modern Mode and ease more into the game as it progresses.
With hundreds of unique items to equip, throw, shoot, learn and build, there's plenty of possibilities to crash your wrench into the drones patrolling the area. And sometimes your own drones as well. Don't worry, no crafting will be required.
Featuring:
- 8 sprawling areas, all in one giant room, to traverse
- 300+ items, all with unique capabilities, combinations and strengths
- 50+ unique enemies, completely animated in cute pixel art style
- 6 NPC's with their own hopes, dreams, aspirations, and make-shift shops
- 6 Toolboxes, a run tracker, and a seeding system to make your runs personal
- 9 Boosts and 9 Challenges to make the game harder - or easier - at will
- 6 main bosses and 1 final boss
- 30 Steam achievements!
Make Your Own Death Machines
Ah, but using a weapon is never quite enough, is it? You need additional firepower! Gather Parts and combine them in any way you like using local Drone Stations, then let the crafted Drones roam near you, distracting and eliminating any threat. You can make a killer robot with three flamethrowers moving at lightning speed - or a cute companion with a taser called Randy. Nobody's safe from Randy.A Turn Of Events
That cogwheel of yours isn't just for decoration, it's your essence. Whenever a Token reaches the top, it'll activate whatever it does - heal you, shield you, give a Crit, give Scrap, or allow a Drone to fire. Re-arrange these Wheel Tokens to whatever you see fit, and before you can say "hey watch this" you deal 40 damage in one attack. Not enough slots for your tokens to fit? No big deal! Swap cogwheels to get more slots, stacked slots, special tokens or more regeneration to increase your active capacity. But beware - larger cogwheels may have more slots, but consequently, each slot activates less often.
Block And Unlock
Many items are locked at first, but in-game Goals can be tracked to unlock them. How do you get 5 Curse? Deal 30 damage in one hit? Use a Reclaimer? The items you gain from completing goals interact with those mechanics heavily! Additionally, you can simply choose Traditional Mode, where all items are unlocked from the start and Goals are purely cosmetic. Excellent for those living the rogue-life.Remembered History
You aren't alone. Maybe that's for the best. There's people down here. Actual people, Devi. Maybe they have some information. You'll need every bit of it.
They have stories to tell? About mechanics? Good. About the lore? Hm, is that interesting?
Are they of use? They clearly have things they can give you. Maybe it's worth your time after all.
Getting them out of this place?
What, are you insane?
See you around.

Nothing Beyond This Point is OUT NOW!
Hello everyone! My second game, Nothing Beyond This Point, has just released!!It's not a Roguelike at all - instead, it's a top-down twin stick shooter Metroidvania, but it's just as strange and offbeat as Full Gear. And a lot better in every aspect - art, music, story, polish! Go check it out, it's very good and very affordable.Featuring:A novel, strange, and aggressive combat system: infinite regeneration, but your health is your damage16 areas with 12 big bosses, plus more if you look closelyMany Sigils, items, abilities, and ability upgrades to collectTons of weird gimmicks to deal with - wind, frost, rain, tentacles?Elaborate maps with automatic and custom markersAn intriguing and easy to follow storyAn almost 2-hour long original soundtrack!Good luck! And uh... don't get lost.-DieuwtRead full article on Community Announcements (Dieuwt)Patch NotesOfficial
Full Gear v3.0.4
Tiny tiny tiny update to fix some apparently weirdly common issues. Did you wishlist Nothing Beyond This Point yet? Anyway. v3.0.4 The game now uses an updated version of the engine. This should not change very much, of course, but if any small issues arise... you know why. Changed: Reapers no longer spawn when under 3 curse. Why would they even care about you? Changed: By default, the game now always auto-saves (used to be prompt) Fixed: crash when quickslotting/using an energy-free gadget with Car Cables Fixed: the Designer's conversation didn't end properly Fixed: Bosses can no longer walk through Powerfields. Honestly, I don't know why they ever could. They can still walk through Forcefields. See you around. v3.0.5Turns out the new engine caused minimal, but not zero issues. Oops!Fixed: crash when loading some games Fixed: Aerospace statues could lock you outRead full article on Community Announcements (Dieuwt)Community & EventsOfficial
Next game, Nothing Beyond This Point: coming to Next Fest, February 2025!
Hi everyone! Great news: my next game, Nothing Beyond This Point is coming to Steam Next Fest in February 2025! The demo will release on February 24th, be sure to grab it and see what it's all about. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45284742/5ede9341de50167b8dbe3d85efcf20c48d7c88f1.png Wow! I look great today. Nothing Beyond This Point is a unique take on the Metroidvania genre. You play as an entity made from pure fire, who uses Rods, Runes and Sigils to survive in the endless Void. Navigation is key, as the game will not easily tell you where to go, so pay attention to all the help that is available - waypoints, enemies, and helpful passerby's. Secrets are everywhere, so find them to become stronger and tackle increasingly powerful corrupted enemies. But don't be fooled: the Void is extremely empty, and wants you gone as well. The demo is quite expansive: three areas, a full boss, four items, and so on. You can freely explore and play with how your inferno fights, or just rush straight into completion. A "hard mode" is available if you think you can handle it! I'm currently still polishing everything so it'll be the best possible version to release. In the meantime: wishlist the game if you haven't already and tell your friends! When it rolls around, give it a play and tell me what you think. Good luck! - Dieuwt {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45284742/a11cf8a8427e6e5426d010f231f24b2ce95fafe7.png hm, maybe I should dodge that.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dieuwt)AnnouncementsOfficial
New epic game in the works!
Hi everyone! I'll get straight to the point. After a short while of getting my ducks in a row, I've started development on a new game: "Nothing Beyond This Point"! It's not exactly a roguelike - really just a metroidvania, but also not quite. It's its own thing! It's got adventure, wide appeal, fun times and a good story. All the works. It's very much in early development, though, so keep an eye on the store page! https://i.imgur.com/HgwEEKO.png Find the Steam page here! Please wishlist it and share it around, it greatly boosts visibility and helps morale and all that. It will be a cheaper game (probably 5 dollars), but not shorter per se. When it releases, I'll most likely also discount Full Gear as it'll fall into the outdated category already. The plan is as following: Release a demo at Steam Next Fest in Feburary 2024 Hopefully get some buzz and press Work steadily on improving stuff, adding things, and responding to feedback Finish the game end 2025, start 2026. I'm also looking for a publisher if possible, so if you have recommendations for this type and scope of game, let me know! (These projects take years to complete, so there's no rush.) Thanks for your support, and I hope to find an even bigger audience this time around! DieuwtRead full article on Community Announcements (Dieuwt)Patch NotesOfficial
Full Gear v3.0.2
Stealth update that fixes some things that bothered me. No biggie. Full Gear is signed up for Turn-Based RPG fest, so I want to have it up to code. There's a new feature, though! v3.0.2 Added: the Storage. One Mechanical Storage will spawn next to a random Tunnel Device in the Kernel. It will hold 36 items of any type. Anything. Throw your spare equipment in there! Of course, they're inaccessible if you're stuck in any other area. They are visible on the map as well! So relax. And when you save your game, your items stay intact. Added: you can now switch between four title themes Standard, Half Moon, Two Bolts, and the final boss. Naturally, these themes are locked until you see their respective content. Added: sounds/particles when moving Tokens around Added: particles when using the Pressure Tank Added: "item already equipped" message when Quickslotting equipped items Buffed: "I Can Only Pray" is now Boss quality Nerfed: Domes try to summon 4+L -> 3+L enemies Nerfed: the 3.0 boss in various, small ways Nerfed: Flux Repressor's "Broken Inside" healing 6+3L -> 5+2L Nerfed: Current's Eye and Flux Repressor Bonus Defense/Sight 4 -> 3 turns Nerfed: Designer now requires 4 -> 6 items for his special armor Nerfed: Curse is now rounded down before used to spawn Wrathed enemies This is because common Cursing traps give 0.5 curse, but that alone shouldn't do anything yet. Effectively, 2.5 Curse is now 2 Curse, and 0.5 Curse is none. Changed: the main menu settings are now six relevant settings Changed: disabled tokens now show a clear red cross Changed: trying to use the Amethyst Tongs on ineligible Utilities now has an error message Changed: added some orange boundaries to otherwise boring boxes Fixed: Summer events would trigger late in the month Fixed: the Wasteland NPC room no longer spawns seasonal decoration Fixed: slightly awkward background rectangle for temperature tooltip and right-click help Fixed: Programmer's Kind Regards wouldn't work Fixed: secondary stats (C...Read full article on Community Announcements (Dieuwt)
