About this game
Shape Shifter: Formations is an action twin-stick shooter with rogue-lite elements, where you must destroy hordes of geometric enemies alone or with a friend. Select your ship and combine a large variety of weapons, abilities and infinitely stacking upgrades to craft your own unique build.
Customize Your Loadout
Choose from a wide variety of ships each with their own unique active and passive abilities, ranging from shocking tesla towers and a burning laser, to clones that mirror your attacks or the ability to slow time around you. Pick the ship the suits your play style and outfit it with a weapon of your choice. Every ship and weapon has it's own unique skill tree, allowing you to alter and improve the way they play via changing abilities/passives and gaining new ones.
Shift Shapes
Survive against swarms of enemies before fighting challenging bullet-hell bosses each with their own unique attacks and abilities. Customize your own difficulty with many modifiers from electrifying the walls, to giving enemies elemental infusions. Higher difficulties can unlock prime boss variants for an even greater challenge and further rewards.
Limitless Upgrade Combinations
Gain experience by killing enemies to improve your ship with infinitely stacking upgrades that allow you to tailor your build as you play. Inflict a barrage of status effects on your enemies, or summon a swarm of constructs with their own weaponry. Extensive meta-progression between runs allows you to gain permanent upgrades, new game mechanics, and tons of new ships, weapons, and upgrades for future runs.

Fixed an issue where Blight's Toxic Wake skill was spawning frost pools instead of corrosive pools. Update 1.0.3 - Hotfix
Fixes Fixed an issue where constructs could still target the Heptahydra's heads after they were killed. Fixed an issue where Havoc's ability would not move from the Heptahydra's heads when killing them. Fixed a crash that could occur when using bouncing projectiles such as dark orbs or the bouncing blade upgrade. Fixed an issue where the Fabricator could sometimes display an input saying you could reroll the item. Fixed an issue where if you rerolled an item at the recycler, you would have to move away from the machine and back for the item card to display. Fixed some construct scaling/speed issues that could occur when using Bastion's Promotion skill. Fixed an issue where some constructs would stop looking for new enemies if there were none at close range. Potentially fixed a crash that could occur when using the Helix Rifle. (We think we've found the cause but haven't been able to recreate this on our end so please let us know if you see it again.) Balance Power Surge (Common) - Increased damage bonus from 10%->20% and increased the duration from 30s->90s. Singularity (Uncommon) - Increased damage bonus from 10%->15%. Brute Force (Uncommon) - Increased damage bonus from 8%->12%. Shardstrike (Epic) - Increased damage bonus per stack from 1%->1.25%. Storm (Ship) - Increased base ability damage from 65->75. Ark (Ship) - Increased the base damage dealt by shock motes from 20->30. Flash (Ship) - Increased the damage dealt by the Blinkstrike+ skill from 20%->30%, and increased the shock applied from 5->10. Bomb-R (Ship) - Increased the locks/banishes granted by skills from 2->3, and increased the base damage of the Bombardment skill from 40->50. Flux Cannon (Weapon) - Lowered the fire rate debuff of each level of the Quantum Burst skill from -5%->-2.5%. 1.0 Out Now!
Hey Everyone, Shape Shifter: Formations version 1.0 is out now! After 1.5 years in Early Access, we're thrilled to announce that the full release of the game is now live! Thank you to everyone who played during EA, your feedback has really helped shape the game into what it is today. The 1.0 update is our biggest update yet, here's just some of the key features, the full patch notes will be posted below; New Final Boss/Arena Unique skill trees for every single ship/weapon, totalling a huge 800! new skills. New BGM music for every stage. Visual Improvements - Added new VFX for tons of effects/upgrades. UI Improvements. New Backgrounds for every stage etc. Tons of smaller additions/changes such as new spawn patterns, save profiles, new infused prime enemies etc. Plus tons more bug fixes/balance changes/optimizations across the game. As always, we're still keen to hear your feedback as we want to make this game the best it can be. Thanks again, Castec NOTICE - You have the option to import your EA save while on the profile menu, with the "R" Key or with "Triangle/Y" on gamepad. Saves are not wiped with this update. Patch Notes Additions/Changes Ship & Weapon Skill Trees - Every ship and weapon now has a unique skill tree that allows you to alter and improve the way they play via changing abilities/passives and gaining new ones. Skill points for these trees can be unlocked by defeating bosses while playing with that ship/weapon. These are too long to list here with 800 skills added combined across all 40 ships/weapons, so we'll leave it up to you to take a look.
