About the Game
Remnant Protocol is a space flight sim with a strategy layer that puts you in command of a galactic rebellion.
Generations after the assassination of the Blessed Mother, you take command of the Remnant forces still faithful to the cause. From Sanctuary, your hidden rebel base deep in the outer territories, wage a guerrilla war against the Usurpers who rule with oppressive authority over the galaxy. Your mission: to create an underground movement that will eventually bring down the totalitarian regime through acts of sabotage and subterfuge.
Raid outposts, make alliances, manufacture ships, research new technologies and lead your wingmates in battle. Outnumbered and outgunned against a sprawling empire, you must be resourceful as well as ruthless if you're to succeed.
The fate of the galaxy is in your hands.
FEATURES
Intense dogfighting action. Hop in the cockpit and take command from the vanguard in your own personal fighter. Inspired by the classics of yesteryear, genre veterans will enjoy a familiar experience of pushing the ship's systems to the limit while juggling various components. Newcomers will find a fast-paced adventure that's easy to pick up but difficult to master.
Rebellion on a galactic scale. As commander of Sanctuary, the hidden rebel base from which you strike, you'll make difficult choices required of the long campaign to reclaim the throne. It's entirely up to you how your limited resources and personnel are allocated for the war effort: operations, research, ship construction, espionage, recruitment and more. The fate of the galaxy rests squarely on every decision you make.
You are being hunted. The enemy is actively searching for your secret base, and each ploy that advances your campaign's goals increases your notoriety and risk of discovery. Your ability to adapt to evolving situations, balancing the risk with the reward of each action, will ultimately determine your fate.
A living, breathing galaxy. Many factions are manoeuvring to secure their position in the power vacuum created by the assassination of the Blessed Mother, each with its own goals and ambitions. This period of uncertainty creates opportunity ripe for exploitation, but each decision you make will ripple throughout the galaxy's shifting, political landscape. Be careful not to find yourself caught between those who would call you ally and those who declare you foe.
Every campaign is unique. From the procedurally generated missions to the dynamic narrative elements, the knock-on butterfly effect of each decision you make to the results of every battle, no two playthroughs will ever be the same.

Early Access Roadmap - 2026-07-22
It's astonishing how bad we are at keeping everyone updated on development. Making a game with a tiny team means we wear a lot of hats, and to be completely honest, we've been neglecting the communication hat lately. We've spent so much time with our heads down working that we haven't done a great job showing you what we're actually building. Instead of promising you more frequent updates that take time away from development, we're opting for total transparency. Today, we're making our living development roadmap public. We've organized our production plans into a clear, easy-to-read board so you can track our progress alongside us. You'll be able to see the milestones we're aiming for, the features currently on our workbench, and what we have planned for the future. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43195079/4bbab50275229db5e33424fdd3607d16192389a7.png The roadmap is also available directly on the store page. Launch will occur after the prologue campaign is finished development. Thank you for your continued support (and patience!).Read full article on Community Announcements (Progenitor Game Studios Ltd.)AnnouncementsOfficial
State of the Game
Hello Commanders! Even for an underground rebellion, it's been a little too quiet around here lately. I'd like to share a non-corporate, PR-spun update on exactly what's been going on for the last six months, where we are with the game, what's next, and our plans to launch early next year. Business Development and Publishers Earlier in the year I decided to double-down on finding a PC publisher to help scale Remnant Protocol's production. The game's metrics were promising: top 1000 most wishlisted game on Steam, growing press and influencer coverage, and financial security from Meta's funding. I thought we'd be able to kick the game's quality up to rival III and AA releases. Every veteran contact in the industry I leveraged in my network told me to go for it, that the optics were beyond the typical indie dev, and it shouldn't be too difficult to find a deal. In some sense, they weren't wrong. Most publishers I pitched (some 100+ at this point) gave the game glowing feedback. They loved the novelty of the hybrid concept, the gameplay, the visual fidelity, the team, the numbers, and the package as a whole. But every conversation ended the same way, typically weeks and weeks later: "Money is tight and it's too much risk for us because we've never launched a game in this genre before." The general downturn in the industry and the tightening of publisher budgets isn't something I saw with clarity until post-Gamescom, as our studio is insulated from it. Unfortunately, this strategic business blunder on my part has cost us a lot of development time. As both the lead developer and business person, I've wasted hundreds of hours of time that could have been spent working on the game with little to show for it besides the knowledge that most publishers -- besides Meta, the best one ever -- are lame. I take full responsibility for that and sincerely apologize for letting everyone down. We did receive a few offers, but they were extremely predatory and unreasonable for this stag...Read full article on Community Announcements (Progenitor Game Studios Ltd.)AnnouncementsOfficial
Flight Training [Alpha Preview]
This is a preview of our current prologue mission in the alpha build of Remnant Protocol. We're using this mission as a benchmark for the fidelity of scripted behaviours one should expect in the final campaign. As an alpha build, the assets, gameplay and writing are subject to change as we continuously iterate and improve the game. Especially the voice acting, which are just placeholders from us developers. Let us know what you think!Read full article on Community Announcements (Progenitor Game Studios)Press Coverage
New space game Remnant Protocol blends XCOM strategy with realistic dogfights
At the core of Remnant Protocol is a relentless, slow-turn tension. A first-person space dogfight shooter in the vein of TIE Fighter and Wing Commander, at the start of your missions, the gorgeous pink-and-orange galaxy feels boundless. The controls are smooth. The engine hums along. You can hold the trigger to freely turn your head in the cockpit, and admire the sights and stars around you. But then the enemy drops out of warp speed and everything becomes a desperate scramble. You've trained these pilots. You've built these ships. And now they're being soundlessly plucked out of the cosmos by missiles and laser fire. After the battle is won, the pressure stays high - blending combat with XCOM-style base and squad strategy, in Remnant Protocol, the burden of command lies heavy. Read the rest of the story... XCOM and Tie Fighter collide in this new space sim and strategy game
Tie Fighter remains one of those real pinnacle moments, often talked about not only as one of the best Star Wars games but indeed one of the best PC games ever. Capturing those intense space battles and combining them with an XCOM style management layer putting you in charge of the galactic rebellion is a new space strategy game coming to Steam in 2024. At GDC, PCGamesN spoke to Scott McCallum, CEO of Progenitor Game Studios, the three-person team working on Remnant Protocol, about its new project. Read the rest of the story...
