Welcome to the Murder Club!!
In this short comedy visual novel, you'll take on the role of an unpopular transfer student who begins a new life at a vaguely Japanese high school. They quickly get drafted into the school's most secret after-school club... but could it be that the seemingly innocent members of the Murder Club are hiding a dark secret?!

• A script totalling 63,000 words, taking around 3-4 hours to complete!
• Mildly amusing dialogue loaded with references to anime, video games (mostly Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid), and outdated memes! Because why write funny jokes when you can just copy other people's, right?
• Multiple choices that affect the story, such as your gender, your hobbies, and whether or not you're naked in 50% of the scenes!
• A deadly minigame that is similar to, but legally distinct from, Wheel of Fortune!
• Three different endings, one of which is totally super secret and hard-to-find!

Merry Christmas from the Murder Club!

This quote-unquote "game" was made to amuse some Discord friends during a depressing few months at the onset of 2021, and the fact that it's seen over 2500 downloads and had so many great reviews (87% positive at the time of writing) just blows my tiny mind. I'm not a programmer... heck, I barely even qualify as a game dev... and your enthusiasm and encouragement really means the world to me. I don't know if I'll ever make another game, but if I do, it'd be amazing to see the same kind of support. And if you're reading this and want to make your own games... believe me, you can do it! Because if I can make something, then literally anyone can. There are so many great tools out there - like the free Ren'Py engine that I used to make ASMC - to help amateurs like us get our ideas out into the world. My goal for 2022: get the Game Grumps to play this. I mean, it's right up their alley, right? It has dumb dialogue, cringe comedy, waifus, and a Wheel of Fortune-inspired minigame. (Plus, there's an Easter egg if you enter your name as "FriendArin", like in their Doki Doki Literature Club! playthrough.) I'm sure we can make this happen! The "Murder in Paradise" Update is Live!!
At long last, the Murder in Paradise update for After School Murder Club!! is live! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40574416/aab7bf57e7ac066f1fff13e1a4c44af5cf3d3099.png This is my homage to the many, many anime that have bonus beach episodes, in which the characters run around in swimsuits and hilarity (and fan service) ensues. It has all the screwball comedy, outdated memes, and royalty-free music that you'd expect from ASMC!!... but this time there are two new characters, and bikinis! The new scenes should take you around 30 minutes to read through, and there are six new Achievements to unlock too! You don't need to buy or install anything separately; just update the game to the latest version, and these bonus scenes will be added in automatically. To access them, get to the end of the story's Second Day. When you're given the option to head to the beach, take it! (You can also skip the new scenes entirely; useful if you're replaying the game to get different endings.) Oh, and please pay attention to the content warning at the start of the new scenes! As always, thank-you so much for all the downloads, reviews and streams. ASMC!! started as a dumb test game I made for some friends during lockdown, and I never expected so many people to enjoy it. It's embarrassingly amateur in many ways, but it makes me happy to know it's out there in the world, making people laugh (in one way or another). There are no further plans for major ASMC!! content, but I'll continue to support the game via bugfixes and other little tweaks for the foreseeable future. 2000 downloads?! Thank-you so much to everyone who has downloaded, shared, reviewed and streamed my first attempt at a visual novel! Special shout-outs to Hiyooori and enbyzee for their entertaining and thought-provoking streams. I began work on ASMC!! during lockdown as a way to entertain a couple of friends, with no intention of ever publishing it on Steam. I'm blown away by the positive reception it's gotten, and it really inspires me to start work on a new game in the near future that takes all the constructive feedback I've gotten into account, such as a more consistent and polished art style. In the meantime, I'm hard at work on the game's free beach update, which will add multiple new scenes of the characters playing around during summer vacation. Here's a preview of a new CG by the immensely talented nyaanite to tide you over!
