METAL MAX Xeno Reborn is OUT NOW!

Calling all hunters, it’s time to save humanity. The time has come to take the fight to the deadly SoNs and reclaim Tokyo Bay from the mechanical monsters that inhabit it. As one of the last hunters, it is up to you to rally a team of survivors together, save Iron Base, and defeat the machines once and for all! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/e8ae0ec3266182a72df4b8ba9ecbd5995dcd58b4.jpg Countdown to Extinction Over the last few months we’ve been sharing posts containing everything there is to know about the world of Metal Max. What was once the bustling Tokyo Bay is now the dried up, sand-covered desert of Dystokio. The whole area is swarming with the often-anthropomorphic hordes of the deadly SoNs. The last bastion of hope lies in a lone outpost, Iron Base. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/c17a5ed7aa458b8ccd3d2d87ef6bb5e7d73535ba.gif Humanity’s Final Fortress Iron Base has everything you need to keep you and your tank in fighting condition. While you’re there, say hello to the residents struggling to keep humanity alive. Everyone has a unique purpose in assisting you in your efforts. Be sure to bring back any other survivors you find on your travels, you never know, they may just be able to help you out! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/ac0e845453026e98c8992a194c5e6d859d1fbf20.gif Among the survivors is one very good boy! Pochi is humanity’s best friend in this post-apocalyptic world. Able to scavenge for scrap and even assist in battle, Pochi is a loyal companion with a nose for useful loot. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/4ebcaf2398dd7d767a54d4aa4bae003fea39eee6.gif Tanks in Advance Sometimes you’ll need a bigger weapon if you want to stand any chance of defeating some of the larger SoNs. That’s where your tank comes in. Metal Max Xeno Reborn has tonnes of vehicles to discover and each one can be fully customised with various weaponry, engines, and traits to give you an edge in battle. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/e5e1ad7505f8421396cf0e35be5d32847624228c.gif Speaking of large SoNs,...

    Combat Tactics

It's time for your final debrief hunters! By now you should know what dangers are out there in Dystokio. The ferocious SoNS will stop at nothing until all of humanity is wiped out. Thankfully, you're not alone and have your vehicles to help you get by and launch a counterattack on the machines. We've taught you how to make the ultimate fighting machine, now it's time we teach you how to use it. Taking the Initiative You'll have plenty of options for how you approach a battle, and providing you have equipped your fleet accordingly, getting the drop on an enemy with a pre-emptive strike is usually the best way to start a fight. Some weapons, like long-barrel cannons, will have impressive range, and you can aim down the sights to fire your opening barrage. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/a4b17af1ce0807684de9d9500c38c0e365f8be18.jpg Turn-based Tactics In line with the other titles in the series, METAL MAX Xeno Reborn also features turn-based combat. An ATB gauge for each party member will gradually fill up in the bottom right UI, indicating when you'll next be able to act again. Each hunter can then choose between a range of options such as Attack, Skills, Item, Guard, or even cycle between the driver and vehicle's abilities. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/28198fec002f790431f8eb2764b0e2dde3a08c1d.jpg Each party member can freely enter and exit their vehicle during combat. When fighting in a vehicle you'll have access to that vehicle's full complement of weaponry and trait chips. When fighting on foot you will be much more vulnerable but will be able to use melee weapons and unique personal skills. Take Talis for example who has a mechanical left arm that can be used to deal some serious damage! Be careful when resorting to close combat as many SoNS are just as deadly up close. Some machines can even explode upon death so being up close and personal may not always be the best course of action. Combat Spacing Flanking both on foot or in a vehicle with your party members is an ex...

    Creating the Ultimate Fighting Machine

Attention hunters! As many of you will know from our debrief on the importance of using vehicles, any hunter hoping to survive the SoNS onslaught must be continuously looking to improve their ride. Relying on a vehicle's basic equipment may get a hunter from A to B, but standard issue won't cut it if you're hoping to take down the more ferocious SoNS out there. Each tank or transport you add to your garage can be modified extensively! Under the Hood All modifications and hardware can be installed back at Iron Base by PO-M and the rest of the survivors using the Terminal. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/c44e886f62408012b86ee15891a7c9b1e02c5cb7.jpg Individual pieces of equipment have weight and durability stats that contribute towards a vehicle's overall weight load and defensive capabilities. You can reinforce the chassis to make a vehicle sturdier, or reduce its weight to make it more manoeuvrable. The bulk of what determines a vehicle's load capacity is its engine. By far the most integral piece of the machine, the engine is also upgradable or can be swapped out for a more specialized model. Improving the stats of the engine will allow for greater improvements for the vehicle as a whole. For example, an upgraded engine will increase overall load capacity, allowing for heavier armaments and thus increasing overall firepower. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/443751ab7a4512fd8742fa77354f3eb7fe33fefa.png Maximum Firepower Every vehicle type will have a different configuration of weapon slots. Weapon mounts can be installed in each available slot, and you can freely swap out mounts whenever you're at Iron Base. Weapon mounts come in three types: Cannons - Conventional damage dealers out in the wastes. While they may be slow to reload and have limited ammunition, cannons deal heavy damage, with several having the chance to pass through several targets at once. Some cannons can also deal elemental damage such as Fire, Ice, or Shock. Machine guns - With their infinite ammunition an...

    Bounty Hunting

Welcome hunters, The once-great Tokyo Bay area has been overrun by giant zoomorphic machines known as SoNS. The entire area has been reduced to a wasteland now commonly referred to as Dystokio. Created by the evil AI, NOA, the SoNS will stop at nothing until they have rid the world of humans. Some of these machines have gained legendary status due to their advanced weaponry and the devastation they've wrought on humanity. The most notorious of these SoNS have had a hefty bounty placed on their heads to entice brave (or foolhardy) hunters. A Fearsome Reputation As you progress through the wastes, the members of Iron Base will alert you to the presence of any WANTED SoNS. Slaying these beasts will not only result in a sizable monetary reward but also allow you to scavenge special crafting materials and items from their wrecks. You can check available bounties in the Wanted Info section of the data menu. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/e0b2a60185c5a9be9a6805d219221e3b96abb9cc.jpg Reaping the Benefits Turn the SoNS' devastating power against them with the parts left behind by slain bounties. These scraps could include rare upgrade materials, deadly weaponry, and occasionally an entirely new vehicle to add to your fleet! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/335bc0743bb4f22bf303cd9b064a816299120877.gif Threat Level: High There are over 30 of these monstrosities scattered around Dystokio waiting for the right hunter to come along and challenge them. However, don't be afraid if their overwhelming strength is too much for you, retreat is always a valid option when the stakes are high. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40606548/00e20d45a2a390e5007b83369a88cb399df2d92a.gif Sometimes you'll find a WANTED SoNS too challenging with your current set-up and will need to adopt a craftier way of bypassing the fight. Once you've upgraded your arsenal enough you can use the handy DOG travel system to head back and deal with any previous bounties you've encountered. That's all for today, in our next post we'll be ...
