About this game

As the flames of war consume the world and the forces of hell rise to claim victory, humanity hangs by a thread. You are the Hell Slayer, a warrior driven solely by vengeance to destroy the demonic lords.

Hell Slayer is a hardcore Survivor-like. Each run, you'll need to survive for 25 minutes while fighting off endless hordes of foes, each more devious than the last. As you fight, you'll earn experience points and level up, giving you the opportunity to choose from many upgrades to tailor your build. Every weapon has multiple upgrade paths unique to them, will you prefer area of effect or raw damage? Attack speed or penetration? The choice is yours.

As you explore the scorched earth, you will find new weapons and trinkets for your divine armory. Here you pour the soul essence you collected into permanent upgrades for the next run. Steel your body, meditate and imbue your weapons. Only God can help you now.

Week 08: Visual Update & DevLog

Visual Update There has been quite a few assets in the game that were never intended to be final game assets, but rather just placeholders. It was long overdue to replace them. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43460868/36419f23a0b9344a18e33dc8ac6a6b6f138a77a4.png More importantly, the level generator for the Desolate Forest has been updated. It can now generate deeper forests and there is generally a wider variety of both layouts and colors. The position of each biome is the same every run, but how they look like exactly is still random. This way it will be possible to memorize the map to some degree. New background image for the menu. New Strike FX for Halberd, Short Blade & Executioners Axe. New Projectile FX for Arbalest. https://steam.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com/week08%2Fnew_arbalest.gif Other Changes Most enemies now get a temporary speed boost when spawning, making the early game a bit more fast paced. This was already implemented long ago, but didn't activate due to a typo. Ironically, the effect of the speed boost is that you get a lot more XP in the early game. The level XP formula has been adjusted. Succubi now stand still while casting Enrage. Arbalest now has 25% Size Growth. Arbalest "++Size" Upgrade 20% -> 30% Size +6 -> +8 Damage +10% Damage Increase -1 -> -2 Projectiles Poleaxe "Burst" Upgrade now also gives additional Hit-Rate. Increased the max number of heartseeker projectiles to 256. Lowered Heartseeker projectile lifetime from 8 seconds to 4 seconds. Holy Nova "+Strikes" is now a common upgrade. +2 -> +1 Strike x0.65 Damage -> x0.9 Damage Holy Nova "+Crit" +5% -> +10% crit chance 2 -> 3 damage +20% -> +25% crit multiplier Holy Nova Shock Infusion Chance 25% -> 40% Holy Nova Fire Infusion Chance 50% -> 60% Holy Nova "-Cooldown" now gives 0.06 casts/second instead of 0.04 casts/second. Holy Nova now starts with 2 Strikes (instead of 1). Holy Nova now starts with 5s cooldown (instead of 6s). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43460868/73b99ffb085bd8d2e77efc2fb14d4e3d7e396824.pn...

    Week 06: Divine Arts

New Weapon: Holy Nova https://steam.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com/week06%2Fholy_nova.gif Holy Nova is a new common spell weapon. It has a moderately low cooldown and hits the whole screen from level 1, requiring no area size upgrades at all. It is very flexible and can be built as a crit-based screen clear, a burn or shock weapon, or a utility knockback. Complete Skill Tree Overhaul {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43460868/b75b23ba04e5a0bc43b3cb76984944167541044b.png The complete skill tree has been overhauled. Major nodes are now sprinkled throughout the tree and give greater bonuses than the minor ones. Entire tree has been reorganized and is now bigger than ever before. Overleveling is now a intentional part of the trees design. It is unlocked by getting the "Growth & Rebirth" node at the end of the tree. Late game cost scaling is now tiered instead of scaling linearly. The tiers are as follows: 250 essence after 30 upgrades, 400 essence after 50 upgrades, 750 essence after 70 upgrades, 1000 essence after 100 upgrades. If someone really manages to amass 200 upgrades it starts scaling again, with each upgrade costing 10% more than the previous one (multiplicative). This probably only becomes relevant once Nightmare difficulty is introduced. (For reference, it takes about 40 upgrades to reach the end of the skill tree.) Minor and Major %Health nodes have been added. Minor and Major %Armor nodes have been added. Major Attack Speed nodes have been added. Minor Attack Speed nodes have been removed. Minor and Major Burn and Shock nodes have been added. Minor and Major +Magic Find nodes have been added. Minor and Major Spell Duration, Cooldown and Damage nodes have been added. Many minor nodes got major counterparts. Weapon Specialization nodes have been replaced with simpler Major Weapon nodes. All ranged and melee weapons can now gain crit chance through the skill tree. Big HUD, Big Font There is now the option to use a bigger HUD and a bigger font for the descriptions, which should...
