  Meet Rakuen - Planet of Lana Character Spotlight

  It’s time for another character spotlight! We’re heading back into the heart of Novo to introduce a vital new presence in Lana's story. Everyone, meet Rakuen.The lovable desert hermit Rakuen – who saved Lana from certain death during her first adventure – is the last person to have joined her adoptive family. Using his nifty engineering skills and spare robot parts, Rakuen has helped the people of Lana’s village integrate the robot tech into daily life. Of a curious nature himself, Rakuen often encourages Lana’s thirst for adventure – much to her sister Elo’s dismay.Now sporting a brand new hovercraft, Rakuen can travel long distances across Novo to aid Lana and Mui on their adventure when needed. Of course, like any good mentor, he believes in Lana’s ability to make good choices, but just in case she falters, he likes to keep a watchful eye on her, just in case.Fun fact: The word “Rakuen” is Japanese for “Paradise”, and the wise old man was actually named after our writer’s local Ramen spot.   Meet Anua - Planet of Lana Character Spotlight

  It’s time for another character spotlight! We’re diving back into the world of Novo to introduce our next key character in Lana's journey: meet Anua.Anua is Lana’s niece and her sister Elo’s adoptive daughter. She joined the family after tragically becoming orphaned during the robot invasion, and is now the apple of her Elo’s eye; a happy, adventurous five-year-old who worships her older sister Lana like a goddess and follows her everywhere she goes. Of course, the only one she loves more than Lana or Elo is Mui. In Planet of Lana II, Anua becomes the catalyst for Lana and Mui’s next adventure when her curious nature puts her on a collision course with the vicious Dijinghala Clan and their Gratto Crystal mining operations. As a character, Anua is very much a mirror to Lana’s younger self and, in some ways, a physical manifestation of the responsibility that our young protagonist must learn to take in Planet of Lana II.   Meet Mui - Planet of Lana Character Spotlight

  Hey everyone, We are continuing our series that highlights the characters in the world of Novo. Next up is Mui!Since the events of Planet of Lana, Mui hasn’t left Lana’s side, and their bond is stronger than ever. But with the addition of Anua (Lana’s young niece) to the family, Mui has her work cut out making sure neither of them gets into too much trouble.Just like Lana, Mui has grown more powerful since our last visit to Novo; a forcefield ability now allows her to jam out machines, hypnotise, and assume control over certain Novo creatures. She can now also move freely across the whole screen, allowing for much more fun and varied collaborative puzzle-solving.We often get asked if Mui is more cat or more dog. But the truth is, her personality is an amalgamation of all our pets of both species in the studio. She’s extremely loyal and obedient like a dog, but also very intelligent and independent like a cat.   Meet Lana - Planet of Lana Character Spotlight

  Hey everyone, Today, we are starting a new series that shines a light on the characters in the world of Novo. Starting with our beloved titular character, LanaLana hails from the small fishing village of Tailo, where she lives with her sister Elo, her niece Anua, and, of course, her trusted companion Mui.At just 12 years old, Lana has lived a more eventful life than most adults and, as a result, is now more agile and technically capable. But after saving her planet from the robot invaders (events in Planet of Lana), she struggles to settle back into everyday life. Now, she spends most of her time scouring the dark corners of Novo for clues about her people’s — and the robot invaders’ — mysterious history. A pastime that often puts both her and the people she cares about in danger.In the real world, Lana’s journey began in 2017 when our co-founder and creative director, Adam Stjärnljus, drew a picture of a young girl and her cute creature companion, standing in a lush Ghibli-inspired environment, looking up at a strange robot. That picture was the seed that started it all; it’s what inspired so many passionate people to join the team and eventually create Planet of Lana.
