Respec cost calculator

Work out the total cost of respeccing your build multiple times, whether the fee grows by a fixed amount or a multiplier each time.

This doesn't store any specific game's respec pricing — enter your own base cost and growth rule from the game itself.

"Fixed amount" growth adds the same number every respec, so costs rise steadily. "Multiplier" growth scales the previous cost by a factor each time, so later respecs get expensive much faster than early ones — the two curves can start identically but diverge quickly.

Fill in the cost and growth settings to see the total.

Worked example

Say a game charges a base respec cost of 100 gold, growing by +50 gold each time (fixed amount). Respec #1 costs 100, respec #2 costs 150, respec #3 costs 200 — a total of 450 gold across 3 respecs.

Now compare a multiplier growth of ×1.5 instead, same base cost: respec #1 is still 100, but respec #2 jumps to 150 and respec #3 to 225 — a total of 475 gold. The two curves start identically but a multiplier compounds faster the more times you respec.

FAQ

What's the difference between the two growth types?

"Fixed amount each time" adds the same number to the cost every respec (e.g. +50 each time). "Multiplier each time" scales the previous cost by a factor (e.g. ×1.5 each time), which grows much faster.

Where do I find my game's actual respec cost curve?

This calculator doesn't look it up automatically — check the game's own UI or a community wiki for the base cost and how it scales.

Does this work for any game with a respec system?

Yes — it's a generic calculator based only on the numbers you enter, not tied to a specific game's data.

What does "respec #5" mean in the result?

The cost of that specific respec attempt alone, not the running total — the total is shown separately.

What if my game's respec cost doesn't grow at all?

Set the fixed-amount growth to 0 — every respec will then cost the same base amount.

Can the multiplier be less than 1?

No — the multiplier must be a positive number, but values below 1 would mean costs shrinking, which isn't how any known respec system works, so it's not a supported use case here.

Does this account for a currency I have to earn, not just spend?

No — this only totals the cost figure you enter. It doesn't estimate how long it'd take to earn that currency.

What if I've already respecced a few times — can I start from there?

Not directly — set the number of respecs to just the additional ones you're planning, and add your own already-spent total separately if you want a grand total.

Is there a limit to how many respecs I can calculate?

No fixed limit, though very high counts with a multiplier growth type can produce extremely large numbers very quickly.

Does this predict whether respeccing is worth it?

No — it only totals the cost. Whether it's worth it depends on factors this calculator doesn't know, like how much the new build actually helps.
